I want to learn how to repair, maintain and generally take good care of my new bike. And my older ones too. What websites, books, etc. do you recommend for a "could be mechanically inclined if I took the time" type person?

I forgot who so if I'm giving the wrong credit sorry but I thought is was the bear, but he told me about parktool.  It has so much free info that there was no need to buy a book.

Park Tool's website has some good information. This is their repair and maintenance site:

As far as books, the best I've seen, especially for someone starting out, is Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance:

I took a little course offered at REI on how to maintain my bike, adjust/tune my gears, change my tires. Also have a reference book, don't remember the title but will pull it out tonight and let you know tomorrow.

Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance:

Yep, I highly recommend this book too.  It's proven quite useful for me over the past several years.
