I have about a 2 hour playlist; get me thru even the long runs. For shorter I'll start in the middle to mix it up. I like to mix up the pace of the music so I don't overdo it; i.e., put a few mellower selctions in so I remember to relax and stretch it out a little vs. all gangbusters all the time.

Jimmy Eat World - The Middle, Let It Happen
Daughtry - Home
Social Distortion - (Leaving You) Far behind - great one for race day too
Carolina Liar - I'm not over
Incubus - Drive
3 Doors Down - It's Not My Time
REM - Man On The Moon - a great live version from ITunes - "if you believe..." - for that last hill on the way home, the 13th mile, etc.

I'm not immune to a couple drum beats or a little air guitar; after all, an hour or more of running is a long time...if I'm running in the neighborhood I try to hold back.

And, oh yeah - on the earbud thing. I had the same problem where they would always fall out, especially in summer sweat season - got a pair of Sony's with an over-the-ear piece at Radio Shack for like $13; comfortable, stay on, sound good.

Dont want to steal your thread but now we all have some ideas for good running songs (excellent idea by the way) can anyone reccomend some good headphones to listen to them on.

I have the little in ear ones that work brilliantly most of the time but when they get sweaty they fall out. Obviously I dont want some huge DJ specials but any good ones you have tried would be a start thanks

I like you throwing a little Ben in there.  I have an entire playlist with his songs just for running.  A little Excuse me Mister to get a pace going and some Temporary Remedy and Ground on Down to keep me flying and some Pleasure and Pain to slow me down.

First off, thanks for some great ideas on songs.

My pick is "The Camera Eye" by Rush.  An oldie but goodie.  11 minutes long and it just flows.

Have a good one.

Wow, I am obviously a young and angry person compared to everyone else:

Megalomaniac- KMFDM

F*cking Determined- Mudvayne

Get Your Body Beat- Combichrist

Gematria (The Killing Name)- Slipknot

Spit in the Face- Anti-Flag

Tip the Scales- Rise Against

Burn to Burn- Static X

Tear it Down- Hatebreed

Those are just a few, but I find it hard to listen to soft music, especially while running.

I have a few favorites but with 1578 songs on my ipod they don't repeat that often so I seldom get bored with the music.
