Comments:

With my recent move, I had not had a single run in the last 2.5 weeks. I had trained for the Patriots Half Ironman, scheduled for Sept. 6, so I was pretty well there anyway, but I had only run about 3 times since that first weekend in Sept. I was concerned a bit about this race.

I kept a steady pace, stopped at each water stop, and had a gel at mile 4 and another at about mile 8. Seemed to work well for me to keep the energy level even.

In the end, I was very pleased with the results, ran faster than the pace in the Cherry Blossom, felt good overall, only walked up 2 of the last hills to keep the HR down, and actually had a PR!!
What would you do differently?:

A bit more focused training, preferably with intervals to keep working on the overall pace. Not take off the 2.5 weeks prior to the race.
Post race
Warm down:

stretching on my way back to the car.

I did drive to Michigan directly after the race-- every time I stopped at a rest stop and got out of the car, my first few strides I was stooped over and tight, looked like an old woman! :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Absolutely no interval work this summer.

Event comments:

Great race overall. Loved to see the soldiers on the route, both at the aid stations, and those doing the run. Was inspiring to see the injured soldiers in there doing this run-- truly amazing. Tho i have to say it was humbling being passed by a blind man. :)

Shows how your fitness has stuck around!  Great job and too bad we didn't see you yesterday.  I can't imagine driving to MI after that race.  Wow.
