I'll do at least the 1/2, and maybe the full.

I did the 1/2 last year in the rain.  I figure I'm due a nice day, this year...

I will be back again this year doing the half as a tuneup for Boston

I know a lot of the cool kids show up and do this race as a tuneup for Ironman California and I would guess that there would be a Saturday Bike ride again to support that effort. (I am skipping IMCal this year so probably won't be up for a ride but would still be in for Post-Expo Lunch on Saturday)

As many have heard, last year was more of an open water swim than a road race and the funny thing is, after running that race, I no longer fear wind and rain on race day

I'm in for the 1/2 to jump start my training for IMFrance. I did it last year (first race ever!) and agree that there needs to be some serious dancing to keep away the rain!

Hey hey!! Yeah...I did the 5K last year in the rain as well. It was actually the first road race that I've ever raced. I sis have fun despite the freaking downpour and the crazy wind. I'd like to do the 1/2 this year if my back heals up properly and I can get in some good training.

;P

My wallet HTFU'd yesterday and I signed up for the full. No more of this "maybe gonna think about considering a marathon next year" business.

elheffe99 - 2008-10-07 4:54 PM I just signed up to do the marathon. It will be my first. I did the half two years ago.

Congratulations! I am just wagging with joy. You are SO KOOL. I am super excited for you.

I'm in for the wee 5K ... an itty-bitty taper-time run in my run-up to L.A. Mary two weeks later.

Just registered for the Full  . It will be my second marathon .

Weather should be cooler than LAM   on  Memorial DAy !

Only 1000 spots  for the Full so i  expect it will sell out pretty  fast

now that LAM gave us  the shaft  .

Looks like the full marathon is sold out--did everybody get in who wanted to?

I'm still thinking about the half--having a foot problem lately and I want to see if it resolves in the next week or so before I commit.

Yup- registered a few weeks back. There was a short write-up about it in the latest Runners World that got me pretty excited. How is everyone's training coming along?

Training going well ,  did 3  BT challenges  to help me get out the door  and  took advantage of the Thanksgiving break to  get my biggest  week in . But with increased mileage come an increase in the rest  & recovery required.  Looking forward to a Memorable day .

A friend of mine has been asking me to do the half with her for a while now so I decided to do it.
I live a few blocks from the downtown area so I will definatley be hanging at the beer garden afterwards

I saw the race was featured in Runners World  as a cheaper alternative than going to Hawaii .

And lo and behold its popped up on our running club 2009 list  as a points race .  With the advice

to book soon or else risk it selling out.

Set a new 20 mile PR yesterday.  I'm supposed to do two more 20 milers before race day, but I think I'll slow down for those.  I'm getting excited for this race.

Hmm...don't have any races planned until Ironbruin in March now that LA Mar has moved to May.

Might turn up for the 5K and stick around to cheer on all you mary/half-mary finishers...driving down to HB twice (including expo/packet p/u) for--fingers crossed--less than 20 minutes of running might be a deal-breaker for that, though...wish they offered race day pickup for the 5K.

It is a Long drive for a 5k , any thoughts of signing up for the Half ?

No, I don't think so. I managed to get a hamstring pull last Monday (on a bad plant against the wall on a swim flip turn, of all things) and I need to get my bike fitness caught up to my swim and run, so my plan is to be doing more riding and not so much in the way of long runs until probably March.

If the 5K doesn't sell out, I'll probably make a decision on this one late.
