Never, ever tried one.  Call me old-fashioned, I guess.

Hi TAN. Didn't take my whole lunch cuz I didn't really feel like going home. Got a salad at Wendy's and brought it back here to eat at my desk. I feel bad about taking lunch all the time.

My only concern is that he isn't really tall.  My daughters think he is "hot and muscular" though.

Why?

No one else in the executive suite takes lunch regularly, so I feel bad if I leave.

Well, since no one else takes lunch, it looks like I am not working hard enough if I take lunch every day. It's sort of implied that you aren't really supposed to take lunch every day, and that you're supposed to work well beyond the hours you're technically supposed to work. So I work 8:15-8:30ish to 6, and maybe take a half an hour for lunch to go grab something and bring it back.

yeah thats total crap...

I had a boss yell at me once that I didn't stay late like the other underwriters did... and he implied I wasn't putting forth as much effort as them... I pointed out that I always met my deadlines and didn't have to work late like my coworkers...

Yeah, but it's like that everywhere in corporate America - my sister works like 14 hour days and orders lunch and dinner in. People work from the crack of dawn til late at night and don't really leave for lunch. It's just the way it is. Only with "hourly" folk is it really enforced cuz no one wants to pay for overtime. Or unions. But most office jobs aren't unionized.

tell them what I say about lunches and people working super long hours

"if you knew what you were doing, could delegate and work efficiently you would be leaving at 5 also, working all those extra hours tells me you are either screwing off or can't handle your job.. "

I work for corporate america, and work many many hours, and have two crackberries for work so I am on call 24 hours a day. I got called in on Christmas this past year. I can tell you that lunch is acceptable, even extended lunch for training is acceptable. As long as you get your work done.

What sucks is if I come in early, I can't leave early. If I came in at 7, I'd still have to stay until 6. The designers get to be more flexible. If they come in at 7, no one cares if they leave at 4 or 5.

Exactly.

But you can not be fired for taking breaks... If you get your work done... and still take breaks you are fine.

I don't think it's like that everywhere.

I personally wouldn't work for a place that had unspoken rules like that. But I understand that's a choice people make for one reason or another.
