Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL

Aside from being absolute boat anchors for weight, they are good strong wheels.  I just quickly googled to see pricing and that is about the going rate online.  You could probably find them cheaper though since people typically don't buy them for aero wheels.  They are usually stock equipment.

I have the same frame P2SL with the cosmic carbone sl premium wheel set. I use them for training and racing and they are great. The premium only replaces the aluminum axel with titanium. I do want a nice set of race wheels but if you can only afford one set these are a nice way to go.

Thanks for comments... The stock wheels that came with Bike (Shimano Aero 500)are not the best and upgrade definately needed. I really do not care what I train with, but would be nice to have versatile wheel. I am not expecting huge speed gains, but stiffer tire, better aerodynamics etc are hopes of eith making my current avg. over HIM course of 20mph either a lesser effort or even better, get it up to 21-22mph. I realize engine is biggest factor, but to shell out over $1k for wheels, I do have expectations of improvement.

From the feedback so far, I am not getting great feeling that my expecations are going to be met from these wheels. They do also have Jet 60/90 combo available for $1,200, but I had heard more issues with those wheels in the long run than the Mavics mentioned. Espeically in the Salt air I ride in along the beach roads here in South Florida.

Back to drawing board @ this point.

Get affordable, bomb-proof training wheels and save the coin for aero race wheels.  Many options to explore on the latter front from budget to bling.

Well, price went down and made the purchase... 55 mile ride Saturday and beat my PR on this course by 10 minutes. Could have been mental, but did feel faster! Hope they help for 1st HIM coming up in a month. Thanks for advice.
