For you locals and those who've run the race before, where are the best places for my wife/kids (7 and 3) to hang out and cheer me on? We will be staying at the Courtyard downtown.

My kids and husband moved around, they were at the start, at the tunnel exit(around mile 9, I think), at the 1/2 way point which is near the start, sort of, at the exit at the belle isle bridge(which is around mile 19, I think) and then at mile 23, then they were in the stands at Ford field when I finished and then met me outside after that long long climb up the steps.

Keep in mind I am slow so they had a lot of time to move from one area to the next.  The best places if they want to stay downtown would be at the tunnel exit, then the 1/2 point and then back at the finish.  Take a look at the people mover web site and see if the course goes through any of the stops.  It would be a fun thing for the kids to ride and that way not have to hike it with your wife.  Good Luck!  jo

Last year I was a spectator for the race and saw the start, tunnel exit, half way point and finish. It wasn't hard for me to do and I was following the top runners. I don't know about going to bell isle, i've never been there in my life so it may be hard. But I know you can stay within about a half mile radius and see runners 4 times.
