Subject: IM FL volunteer noob questions
The family is driving down for a vacation, which hopefully will include my being able to volunteer at IM FL. I received an email saying that volunteers should show up at 5 pm on Friday at the volunteer meeting. That seems a little late to me with the race starting the next morning. I was actually hoping to volunteer the day before the race so that I could watch the race on Saturday. Sounds like that may not be possible. Anyway, does anyone know how long are the shifts for the volunteers? Do we get to request where we want to be at the Volunteer meeting? Any suggestions from people who have volunteered before? I'm trying to see and learn as much as I can, in combination with being of some help to the race

I volunteered last year.  I signed up from the IMFL web site and was sent an email asking me where I wanted to volunteer.  I requested "catcher" and that's what I did.  I was also able to request what time(s) I wanted to work.  It was for 4 hours, but I could have stayed longer if I wanted to.  You can volunteer at several different places during the day if you want.  Just contact the volunteer coordinator, and if nothing else, just show up the day of the meeting and tell them you want to volunteer and I'm sure they'll put you SOMEWHERE.  It's one of the most rewarding thing I've done, and I'm sure I'll do it again.
