Subject: RE: Thoughts on kicking during swimI'm not much of a swimmer yet, but I read and learn and hopefully improve. I wish I had the swimming background because the technique takes time to develop. Pretty much any book I have read about triathlon swimming speaks of the two beat kick. Most of them say that the majority of your propulsion comes from the pull. I've read in different source books stating ranges between 70-90% of your power comes from the pull. I am sure that is an over simplification and certainly in sprint distance races the kick is very important. I doubt however you will see many guys doing 2.4 miles with a six beat kick. |
