Subject: Should I change my training?

I have my sights set on doing Augusta 70.3 in Sept. 09.  This will be my first HIM.  I have only done two other tri's- a sprint and full xterra.  In the future, I will be doing two more tri's before Augusta - an oly and another sprint.  I have gotten my swimming down pretty good.  I can do 1500m in under 40 minutes and can actually kick it pretty good for the last 200 without wearing myself out.  I feel I could do at least 2000m without any trouble.  Currently I train 6 days per week.  I bike 2, run 2 and swim 2.  My question is should I cut my swimming down to 1 day per week and concentrate more on running and biking?  I am not a runner but have worked up to 6 miles in 5 weeks of training.  It seems biking might be my weakest area.  I don't have any trouble with small bricks (15-20 mile bike, 2 -3 mile run).  Should I concentrate more on the bike?  Also, since I am a true mtbr, should I count an offroad ride for a training day?

Don't really have time to fully respond. Definitely look into a training plan -- winter maintenance perhaps for right now and then one for HIM training. You'll have to start doing double sessions, and try to do 3x/week (give or take on certain strengths and limiters) in each sport.

One word - VOLUME. You need to increase your overall volume in each of the three disciplines. Forget about speed for the next few months and just work on getting in more volume. Volume will build your base and from there you can work on speed. Instead of cutting a swim, you should add one. 3 swims, 3 solid bikes, and 4 runs per week should be the minimum. In building for a HIM you would do well to shoot for a minimum of double the race distance in each discipline per week, and even more if you can.
