Do you know if spectators can get to and view the bike turn-around on Hwy 1694?  As in, can they drive up Hwy 329 from the interstate to where it hits Hwy 1694 (and the bike turn around at mile 23.5-ish)?

Do they block roads, or did anyone see spectators there in previous years?

saltydog7mile - 2009-08-25 4:13 PM I'll take 90 degrees and no wind over 75 and windy! Biking is not my strength

Interesting...I'd take 75 and wind, rain or snow versus 90 and humid.  Maybe it's just the summer heat has cooked my brain.

You bite you tongue!! Don't even mention the "W" word! I've had the 100's most of the summer and i've had some NASTY 90 mile rides with the last 45 straight into a hot 25mph+ W and I about gave up.  Anything but the "W"!!

River temp. back up to 80.03 @ 8:15pm according to my instruments a mile up river from the start.

With any luck, they will probably measure the temp in the tow channel in a shady area.

Anyone know for sure where they get the temp from?

Yes, I believe the spectators can get to that turn-around from the back roads.  We'd love to have their support anywhere along the way.

I am so excited I can't believe it. Had a cortisone shot in my hip yesterday and it feels a whole lot better today. Hopefully I will be pain free all day Sunday. Thanks for all the help this year guys. You have all been a great help and resource.

Hello All,

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck and stay safe on Sunday.  I have been to the two previous IMKY as a spectator and they were both great events.  We have always gone down to the start and watched the swim and T1, but this year I will be at the finish line cheering you all on, good luck.

I'm still trying to get my swim marshall assignment location. Hopefully I get this info before the weekend, so I can post it. Be sure to tell me hello. I shouldn't be that hard to spot, I'm the blond athletic looking guy with very well defined shaved legs.

Kick some butt this weekend guys, and remember, you are representing BT.

Well being from t6he beach, I was a little worried about the hills, so I went for a ride on the course today. I did the 164 out and back twice, mostly flat except for the last 2 miles, got up to 40 mph, but did not press it. The bridge was well marked where all the rough spots were. I then drove down course and rode the La Grange loop, I did drop to the small chain ring a few times, but not too bad. I was scared sh...less riding with the traffic on a few of the roads (146). Hopefully it won't too bad race day. Temps were in the high 80's with little wind, so anything cooler is a bonus. I did not ride, but drove the Wolf Pen Branch part and that looked like it will be a challenge but at least it's early and we only have to do it once. Expo in the morning and another short ride for me on Thur. Travel safe, let the party begin!  Jim

One other thing, if you are at the Galt House and park yourself in the garage, MAKE SURE TO TAKE YOUR BIKE OFF YOUR CAR/TRUCK. Very low clearance. No I did not learn the hard way, but it was close. Jim

thanks for the update. I couldn't help but notice that you did Longhorn. How would you compare this to the Longhorn course?

Hills are steeper and longer than Longhorn, not alot of flat between hills to recover, I never used small chainring at Longhorn, I will here , but not as windy as Texas (I hope).

Good luck flying out of Phl, as a pilot, that's one airport I hate to go in and out of, I hope your weather is good.

Thanks for that heads up. Have a pick-up with the bikes in back and a little higher than the truck. That would have been ugly!

We should pull into the Galt House around 6 PM if all goes well.
