If you want to kayak for Ironman here's the site to sign up.  This also is the same form if you want to volunteer else where on the course.  Jen, I have a yak you can use, but Kevin will also provide one and that's also kind of nice because then you don't have to haul the yak at all.  He has them right there at the put in and you just paddle to the take out and walk away!

Hello!!

Kevin here from the ASU kayak club.  Just like the last race in April, the Kayak Club is working the swim section of the November 23rd IRONMAN.  I would just like to invite you to come out and help us on the water!  Or beg you, whichever you prefer    Either way, we would love to volunteer with you and we could use your help!

The volunteer registration is the same for IRONMAN, just go https://www.nasports.com/volunteer/imarz/index.php, or ironmanarizona.com and click on the volunteer tab.  Fill out the form and select canoe/kayak as your first choice.  Then you're good to go!!

Also, if you would like another opportunity to volunteer, the Kayak Club is working the SOMA Half IRONMAN on October 26th.   If you would like to help out with that as well, please send me and email.

As in the previous races, if you do not have a boat, let me know.  We will have a bunch of boats for IRONMAN and quite a few extra for SOMA.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you!!

Also, if you want to do Bike Handling with me and Astrid and Water Dog, sign up and indicate Bike Handling as your first choice, and indicate in the notes area that you want to be in Debbie Foster's team.    The Bike Handling is different shifts that covers getting bikes for those coming out of the water and just starting the bike, and then taking the bikes from the athletes as they come off the bike.  I think you can start as early as 8 or 9....but I told her I would work 12-5  (Mainly taking bikes as people come off the bike), but told her that if we get down to race day and they don't have enough morning people, I will come early and just do the whole thing.  That way I can still see the swim start, work my butt of for the bike part (where you don't get to see people often), and then I am free to sit along the lake and cheer people on the run as they pass by.

I am official now. I have submited my form for kayak. I picked bike racking for my second choice. So maybe I will come do that after I am done in the water. I am excited to be in the water for the swim start. I watched part ofthe swim and some of the finishers in April and that is what got me into this sport. Now I get to be in the water and be part of the show. I feel cool.

I want to sign up to volunteer, but I found out today that my knee surgery is the 18th. I'm afraid that I will still be on crutches for the race. I would be afraid to be in the way.

Any suggestions what I can volunteer for. Keep in mind that just days before I will have had a lateral release on my left knee and two scews removed from my right knee

Thanks everyone

Thought I would resurrect this thread to see what everyone is volunteering for.

Josh and I are volunteering with HIT at a Run Aid station. I start my shift at 5:00PM this way I can keep a close eye on Jer and Jot and scoot over to the finish after I see them come through aid!

If anyone else is interested in run aid let me know and I'll let you know what to put on the form!

I'm probably skipping the volunteer meeting but will be out there to kayak.  I've asked to be at the 1/2 way marker again this year so hopefully Kevin will let me be there.  I'm taking my IK - the grey yak I've been using at OWS.  Considering volunteering at a second location afterwards.  Jen, does your station still need help?  Where is everyone else?  Would rather be with someone I know.

I'll be wetsuit stripping and run aid station with Trisports.com.  This aid station is under the Curry bridge on the north side of the lake.  I won't be at the volunteer meeting because I'll be riding in El Tour.  Good luck to all of you racing.

I may do this. Or may work early at my assigned station and then hop over to join you guys at 5pm. Definately want to be out there to cheer on the BTers, especially near the end and at the finish!

Chris, Kerri and anyone else who wants RUN AID:

Sign up for aid station #9 for shift 5-9PM if you want!!! Bot and I will be there! Its a short walk from transition! I figure that way we will KNOW when Jer and Jot are definitely finishing and we can be at the finish to cheer them on while still participating!

PJ - Just come hang out at our aid station with little man!! He can help, he's cute, tired runners like cute!

Jen....where exactly is this run aide station?  It's the HIT one, right? I will come there after bike racking until 5.

I will be doing the Mud Run Sat morning, then the IMAZ dinner at PJ's in the afternoon. I will probably stop by IMAZ to see if there is anything good to bye on my way to PJs, since I will be a little muddy in the morning.

Then Sunday I will be bike racking from 12-5

Monday signing up for the big dance in '09!

Look at Jerry being big spelling police!!!

Run Aid Station 9 -

The location for Run Aid Station 9 will be on the northwest side of Rural Road and Rio Salado. Our station is at the bottom of the hill next to the lake, please don't confuse our station with Run Aid 2 which is at the top of the hill.
