yeah, I'd say a 100 miler prior to Boston does qualify as more crazier than doing a HIM that same time before...I'm doing a HIM as well on 5 April and plan to just "taper" between the two races.  Guess we're all on the same crazy boat together!

It's more like a sinking raft, but it's good to be on it with other whack jobs! ;-)

Good luck with the HIM!

If anyone's still looking for a number, Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis is looking for a few runners for Boston.  You just have to be able to finish in 6 hours and do some fund raising that ACP will help you to achieve.  In return you'd get a number, team tech shirt, website and blog (with donate link, of course), I believe access to a trainer (by email and phone) and some other support.

I don't work for ACP, but can pass along the info.  PM if you want to find out more.

It is awfully quiet around here.  How is training going for everybody?

I am still on the rehab train, but making some progress.  Doing my first 22m on Friday!

Wow, I'm really shocked at how many of us are doing this race, and how few of us are discussing it.  Kinda weird, don't ya think?

Too busy training! Actually, I think Feb with work, training, and some family stuff it was the busiest month I have EVER had....

However, I have started to think race day logistics and packet pick-up logistics...any tips from vets would be helpful!!

Get to the expo as early as you can.  I picked my stuff up on Saturday afternoon and it was smooth sailing. By Sunday it was a zoo, although partly due to the Olympic trials taking place that day.

I thought getting on the buses was a breeze.   The whole thing was very well organized.  My biggest advice is not to drink too much before you get on the bus.  It takes about 90 minutes depending on traffic and many people had to jump off the bus in a traffic jam to pee (right next to the bus!).

We should start a "what to bring to the Athletes Villiage" soon.  Depending on weather the list will no doubt shift.

I am going!  Training is going well.  Not as good as my qualifyer but decent.

2 weeks ago got in 43.5 miles with 1x17 miles

Last week was a rest week.  Got in 37 miles with my first 20 miler covered in 2:40.
No injuries so all is going as planned.  I hope to get in 45 miles with an 18 miler on Sunday.  Cheers to everyone and smart training.

Nice training Mark and a big hello from an Aquaphor Teammate!! I've been hovering around 30 miles per week with a long run of 17 miles last weekend. I'm doing this as a fun race and taking in the "Boston Marathon" experience. Legs are feeling great but would appreciate it if my appetite would lay off some of the sweets and "good tasting" food full of fats.

Where's everyone staying for the race? I booked a room at the Sheraton in Framingham for $53 a night on Hotels.com. Anyone else staying there?

Yes, I am with Bob on this one.  This is going to be a long fun run.  My run training has taken a back seat and I have just started to ramp up the miles again.  Did about about 28 last week, with a 14 miler in there.  Definitely, work to do, but am hoping my other training will fill in the gaps.

We are actually using some of my Hilton points and are staying at Hamton Inn & Suites Boston Crosstown Center.

Thanks for the advice on the buses and hydration.  Any other tips, please post!!

I got in 35 miles last week with 1x17.5. Recovering this week with a bit of a soleus/achilles issue, but plan on two 40+ weeks starting next Monday.

I'm also making this more of a fun run and staying with friends in Melrose. Flying in on Thursday, heading to Vermont to celebrate my folks 50th anniversary, then back to Mass. on Sunday.

Good luck to all of you in your training, and have a blast at the race!!

Feeling good.  Got in 46 miles this week with a good tempo day and a 12, and 18 miler.  Did my first 20 last week.  Next week is another 20 miler.  Keep it going everyone!

I'm already looking forward to April 19, 2010!   I qualified earlier this month, and that gives me a slot for 2010.  I'm loving all of the chatter, and can't wait for it to get closer!  I've got a HIM and an IM to finish first, though!

Boston will be my second marathon - and I can't imagine a better venue!  I'll be cheering you all on this year!

Congrats, Linda! I might be joining you next year as I'm probably out for this year. Damn injury won't heal and I've been unable to run for the last 3 weeks. I'll be there regardless, but may be drinking beer and cheering others on with the Wellesley Women.

Bib # 7914!!

I got in a 16+ miler this past weekend. I have a long brick to do this coming weekend but will shoot for a 20 next weekend. I am looking forward to the Boston experience and doing the marathon as a long, supported (very supported) run. I am thinking that my legs will be looking for a recovery walk somewhere around Wellsley!!

Bib 5803!!

Doing a different kind of plan heavy on the longer run so last this Sat is a 28 miler at an easier pace.  Gonna see what race day gives me but hoping to PR or ease back if aggressive race plan falls through and its not there.  Then 2-3 weeks before MOO training progresses.

13720 for me...the back end of the wave 1! Haha!  I suffered a calf strain this past weekend on my long run, but it's not severe, so I'm nursing it up.  This will be my first Boston and I want to just soak it in and enjoy...no need to hit a home run this time around. I have a lot of flexibility in life after this year for about 5 years, so if I want to race it I'll go back again!  Just excited to do it--was nervous when I first strained the calf, but thankfully not as bad as I thought initially!

18516 for me.  Farther back than last year, but looking forward to a great time in Boston.

Anyone have some ideas of things to do in the town or surrounding area?  Last year we focused on the Olympic trials and didn't see a thing.  This year I would like to change that a little.  We are staying at the Prudential Tower right on Boylston and are up for almost anything.

Training has been a disaster of late, with a newborn in the house and a job at a bank. This is turning into a fun run for me as well. I read in an earlier post that there might be a meet up. Would like to put some faces with some screen names, so if there is a pre or post race meet up, I will try to attend.
