Sunny
Total Time = 2h 15m 38s
Overall Rank = 9/164
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/19
Pre-race routine:

usual b-fast and shower and light stretching. over 1hr drive to race with 30mins to setup.
Event warmup:

long walk with bike to transition, then a short 5min run and a quick 5min swim prior to start.
Swim
  • 23m 44s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

poorly marked course. people were swimming everywhere and i am fairly certain some people cut the swim course short. hard to sight the turnaround bouys. got of course a little.
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

had trouble getting suit off and then issues getting socks on wet feet. damn i suck at T1.
Bike
  • 1h 13m 34s
  • 26.54 miles
  • 21.65 mile/hr
Comments:

legs felt dead and just had trouble pushing it. left race wheels at home which may have helped a little. dropped chain after a big climb which slowed me and had some jackass pass me and then slow so that i could drop back properly after being overtaken. i finally decide to pass him and i got a 2min penalty. cant tell if penalty was assessed or not.
Transition 2
  • 00m 34s
Comments:

really good T2 for me. was off and running in no time!
Run
  • 36m 16s
  • 5.9 miles
  • 06m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

strong run. held pace with a fast duo for 2miles until hill but still ran hard thru out. really pounded the pavement on the downhills to make up time. my run has now become a weapon to gain ground in races. me likey!
Post race
Warm down:

ate a few sausage wraps with a beer and talked with some locals as well as BTer jacob evans. props to jacob for racing a tough course a week after kona.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

bike legs not there.

Event comments:

ok race. entry fee cheap so cant have huge expectations for post race activities and food. biggest beef was the marking of the swim and the road conditions for the bike. not much you can do about either.

There you go! A 6-minute per mile run pace is a very potent weapon indeed.

Survive the swim, hunt 'em down on the bike, kill 'em on the run; a really successful race strategy.

Lookin' good for IMAZ (Kona)!

Man dude that run is smokin. That is a weapon for sure, nice race despite the adverse marking on the swim course. About a month to IMAZ look forward to seeing you get that KQ!!!!
