Subject: IM FL - Question about Wind on Bike Course
The bike course map is at the link below. For those who are familiar with the course, can you tell me the typical wind direction on the roads (which I think are 79N, 20E, 231S, 388SW)? It will help my peace of mind on the bike if I know when to expect the wind to be against me.

I've done the course twice, '05 and '07, and the only noticable wind was on the shorline drive the last 6-7 miles of the course. Pretty heavy headwind to go into the finish with.

From doing the course this past month, it gets tough on 388 onward. The wind picks up and the road gets bumpy along that time. Especially the last turn off onto Front Beach, it can really whip you there.

I raced IMFL in '06.  That year the wind was pretty significant.  I don't know the road numbers.  But in general I remember the first ~40 miles being into a headwind.  The next ~40 was crosswind.  the last ~40 was a tailwind.

Waves in the morning usually meand a headwind going out and a tailwind coming back until after the bridge, then you get a cross/head wind the last 10 miles.  No waves in the swim usually means you get a tailwind going out and a headwind coming back.
