Subject: Design my P3C's paint scheme
Time to release your inner artist. I've got a 2008 P3C frame arriving this week. I really don't like the factory silver/black/red paint scheme and with so many P3's out there, I want mine to at least look different.

I've got the equipment and experience to do a high quality paint job myself. I'm very mechanically inclined, which is really what doing a custom paint job requires. However, designing said custom paint job is where the creativity is required and that's where I fall a bit short.

So here's a blank slate P3 frame to play with. I'm wide open to colors and designs, so if you've got any ideas, let's see them.

I'm seriously looking for some input on what to do with my frame. It doesn't have to be crazy or even all that unique. I just want it to look good.

Just right-click on the image and save it local and then you can play around in PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, or even MS Paint.

I'm looking for serious input on what to do with my frame. ;p

Sorry....I just couldn't resist.  In all honesty, I have ZERO artistic ability, so I will be of no help.  But I think it is really cool that you posted it, and I hope the real artists on here can come up with some good schemes for you.

LMAO!! Oh my gosh this is the best thing I've seen on the forums in a long time.

Sorry Dennis. (I'm still laughing)

Anyway, Dennis, you're the artist! You're good with this stuff. What colors are you thinking about? I might have some time to play with it at work tonight, but I don't think I'd come up with anything as good as you could.

What fun! How long will you run the contest?  I'm all over it, but need a couple of days.

Not really a contest, but I'll take input for as long as it takes to find something I'm happy with. It'll be at least a week or so before I'll be ready to paint it.

And Haley, where do you come up with me as an artist? Not likely. I can tweak someone else's idea, but I've got very little originality.

Well, you've done a lot better thing than I could do...so that makes you talented! I have no artistic ability, even trying to copy something.

I can pick out colors.

You can't go wrong with a good fade imho.

Have you seen this thread? http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2027561;search_string=cervelo%20custom%20paint;#2027561

I really really really like "scheme 4" from that page.

Just FYI, but I think Cervelo will void your warranty if anyone but www.hottubes.com paints the frame. Might not be a big deal to ya or it might?

Just an FYI with respect to any areas you may want to leave bare carbon - the 2008 Cervelo framesets do not utilize a cosmetic outer layup so if you sand below the paint and clear, you're only gonna find pure structural carbon mat, with no provision for looking cosmetically "trick".  For better or worse, the layup and composition of the Cervelo frames is mazimized for structural strength, not cosmetics.  I wish there was some weave under there as well (I am part of the Cervelo mafia, having an '06 P2C and an '08 P3C), but at the end of the day, I'll take performance and function over form any day.

I won't be able to show the carbon weave. Since it's painted already, there's just no way to remove the paint sufficiently without getting into the carbon itself.

Just my opinion .... but if you ain't a WC, no one has any business putting the WC stripes on their frame/jersey.

how about a "big cat" type animal, cheetah, or tiger striped,   have the whole bike the texas flag and do your disc as the star,
