To all you fellow triathletes out there running the Rock, I would love to have a weekend partner/s for my long runs, Saturday or Sunday doesn't really matter. I'm looking at 13 miles next weekend increasing to 18 or 20 for the next five weeks (last two of tapering), the pace will be slow, I don't want injuries, probably 10:45 or 11:00 minute/mile at the White Rock Lake or the Katy Trail. Let me know. Good luck!!

lukes has their training groups at white rock  6am at the bath house... often by this time in the year people just drop in to run with a group that are not part of the "official group"  mileage 12-20

It figures that Gary would be well-versed about what goes on at a bath house in the early morning hours.

Clif bar is gonna have a team of pacers for both half and full distance marathon with different goal times. You have to sign up on their website, it's gonna be free and they'll even send you a box of goodies via mail. Of course you're gonna get a ton of emails later on but what's one more stripe on the zebra, huh?

Good luck on the pursuit of your new P.R.

Ernest

P.S.: their website is www.clifbar.com

Pretty sure the Clif bar team is just for the full. Website says for the half there will be a Dallas Running Club pace team. Same difference, just no clif bar goodies. Be interested to see what kind of paces they have for the half.

I'd be surprised if you had to sign up with a pace group.  I ran the full with a pace group and I never signed up.  I didn't even know there were sign ups.   I don't plan to sign up this year either.

In case you are a procrastinator like me and didn't sign up for White Rock Half, it's officially sold out now! I guess this makes the decision between WR and Sunmart 50k a heck of a lot easier now! Have fun out there, everyone!

You're kidding!!  I just signed up on Wednesday and the site said 85 percent full.  I waited last year & the race filled up.  I went to the expo & signed up the day before.  So there still might be hope for all those that missed it.

Pace groups are listed for the 1/2 now.

http://www.runtherock.com/race_info/half_marathon/pace_teams.html

They go from 2:30 down to 1:40 in 10 minute increments.

ousooner45 - 2008-11-19 1:08 PM Ok Stupid question since thsi is my first 1/2........what exactly is a "pace group"??

It's a group of runners experienced with the distance who will run a consistent pace and come in around the listed time. So the 1:40 pace group would run close to 7:38 miles the whole time, though each mile can fluctuate due to traffic, hills, etc.

They are great tools if you are either inexperienced with a distance and don't want to burn yourself up early or if you are trying to hit a specific goal time. I've run with one before and it's fun. You don't feel like you are all by yourself. They also give you good advice about when to refuel and get water, etc.

Unfortunately, they don't have one for my goal time, so I'll just wing it.

I did the dallas trot

also Bib # are out...I'm 9314 for the 1/2    is it just me or does a stand alone race just not have the same effect as a tri when you have your bib #.... I mean it's not like you can find where I'll be at the start line aka tranistion  based on my number...

Bib # 7550 for me.  If the wind stays calm, it should be a good race, otherwise, I'll liable to run off the course.
