Total Time = 3h 05m 46s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 7/20
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast of PB toast. To transition early to get set up.
Event warmup:

Laughing with the cool kids while trying to calm the nerves. Oh yeah, and trying to stay warm since i didn't wear a wetsuit.
Swim
  • 17m 38s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Honestly not too many problems on the swim with the other athletes or sighting, etc. only a few run ins or smacks up side the head here and there. I did the swim without a wetsuit, honestly don't think it affected me and I don't think I would have done it differently. I am "fairly" happy with the swim time, especially considering it included the swim exit and run to transition. Bruised my shin and knee trying to climb out of the water. I was second out of water in my age group, the first place beat me by about ten seconds, =(!
What would you do differently?:

Smoother exit from the water.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

i was fine exiting the water and running into transition, but once I got to my bike, i got really dizzy really fast. I had to stop grab the bike rack for a minute and get a drink of gatorade to make the world stop spinning. Once I got the helmet and shoes on and started running it was all good. First place age group coming out of transition, but its all downhill after that.
What would you do differently?:

Not get dizzy?
Bike
  • 1h 41m
  • 31.5 miles
  • 18.71 mile/hr
Comments:

I was trying to save some energy on the bike, to finish the run, but I was feeling soo good and it was hard to do. Really happy with this bike split, my goal was around 1:45, and 1:41 is great! BUT, 12th in agegroup shows i can make some improvements.
What would you do differently?:

Hmm, do the loops in the right order?
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Running through transition my legs just felt dead and I was thinking i had really screwed myself for the run. i tried to use the potty, but someone jumped right in front of me and there wasn't one open, so I decided to just start the run. Must of not had to pee that bad as it didn't come back to haunt me during the run.
What would you do differently?:

nada
Run
  • 1h 02m 44s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 09m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I just started running and found a comfortable pace, although it didn't feel like I was moving very fast. I just concentrated on one foot in front of the other, one mile at a time. Felt strong, no stomach issues, kept cool, good nutrition. I thought I had killed my legs on the bike, but they came through for me on the run! Under ten minute miles, woot!!! Nine minute miles here i come. I felt like i had a faster run in me, but my legs just weren't listening.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around looking for BT'ers and watched some finished. Cheered everyone on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More training=more base= faster me

Event comments:

Good Race, well organized, Looking forward to it next year!!!

Course: I had been really worried about congestion on this course with the number of bikers+u-turns, but it really wasn't bad. I didn't have really any problems. I too was one of the quater athletes who made the wrong turn on the first lap. Luckily, i had done the course before and knew I was missing a part of the loop, so the second time i cam to that point I went right and did the extra portion i should have done the first time around. First Loop=short, Second Loop=Long.

Awesome race!  Under 10-minute miles on the run...I think you'll be to under 9 in another race or 2.

Your swim time is absolutely awesome!  That time rock's, you've got the fast skill that's hard to learn. Most of us could spend 10 hours a week swimming and not get that kind of speed.
