Does anybody know how fast this race sold out last year? They say they are limiting it to 2000 entrants. Is this different than previous years? Thanks for the input. I'm just trying to find out how soon I need to pull the trigger if I want in.

It is a great race. Very fun and well supported.  It sells out pretty fast.  However, many people were on the waiting list (I believe in the hundreds) and did get into race.

2000 is the normal limit for the race and it will sell out. I got in on Nov. 3 (or around then) last year, IIRC, but it doesn't last a whole lot longer and I think I heard it has been selling out earlier each year. The majority of the waiting list people were offered a spot this summer, I believe...there were somewhere around 1800-1900 starters for the race, if memory serves.

I was a wait list getter inner last year. With the easy to deal with drop policy and the staff's positive attitude that most on the wait list would get it I made it my A list last year, and first ever tri.

Am registered this year as well.

Also doing WF Long for the first time this May as my second tri. Good times

I am in for Vineman 70.3.  Hope it is as fun as everyone says it is.  Might as well take advantage of the proximity of this race and do it while I am living out here for these 18 months.  See you guys there.

Great course! I did Barbs Race (same course, but all women) 2 weeks after Vineman. I loved the bike.

Hi everyone.  I'm new here and a true BT-er.  Just registered yesterday for Vineman 70.3 also, and just starting my training now.  I didn't even know about Barb's Race....There are women doing the Vineman right?  I see one woman registered above (Suzanne?).....hope I picked the right race!

I should have a couple others done by that time, figured I couldn't pass up the location too!

I am all signed up. My wife, father and uncle are also signed up so it should be a fun family event for us.

This is the first triathlon I have signed up for, but have plans to do a few leading up to it. I have been a spectator at the last two and am looking forward to doing it instead of watching. The weather difference between the two years was big. Last year it was cool and seemed ideal for the event, the year before was hot and I saw what heat, dehydration and over exertion can do to you in the finish chute. A crawling finish is still a finish though.

Lots of women last year.  I'd say it's a bit more competitive than Barb's since the 70.3 is an M-dot race.

Great race.  You'll have a great time.  It was my first 1/2IM.

Yup...Vineman IM 70.3 is men and women. Barb's Race is women only, much smaller field (and cheaper, for what it's worth).

Same swim and bike course for both...the run is somewhat different for the two, though: One 13.1 mile out-and-back for Vineman 70.3 run, 1 1/2 times on the 8.7 mile Full Vineman run course for Barb's Race. (The Full Vineman does the first 4.35 miles of the 6.55 Vineman 70.3 course out-and-back three times, Barb's Race does that same out-and-back 1.5 times...so the Barb's Race half mary uses only the first 2/3 of the Vineman 70.3 run course one-and-a-half times, if that makes sense...same terrain, just not all of it...)

Thanks for the info.  I haven't studies the course yet, so I'm not sure which would seem easier with perhaps less incline or potential wind situations, but I guess I'll leave it at the Vineman since I might as well get used to being in a male-female crowd with this sport!  Perhaps I'll find another female-only to do in the year elsewhere.

Stupid question, what's an "m-dot"?  I'm sure it's in one of the glosseries around here somewhere....

Oh, just a reminder that we're in the area, and if anyone needs a place to crash on training weekends, please let us know.    We're always happy to ride the course with out-of-towners.
