Swim
  • 28m 51s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

pretty rough start w lots of kicks and arms whilst swimming shoulder to shoulder.tried to relax but took a while to get into any rythum.
going out was good and current assisted but coming back was tougher and seemed to take a while.
stopwatch said 26:15 when i got out but must have crossed the timer further on to get 28:51
What would you do differently?:

keep training
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

found bike easy and quick t1.dodged some traffic whilst getting feet in.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.all good
Bike
  • 1h 12m
  • 40 kms
  • 33.33 km/hr
Comments:

glad to be out of the water and felt pretty good on the bike.
got cheered on as i went pass the club tent.
didnt push hard and kept cadence around 80-90 rpms.took a gu about 10min from start and another in the same place coming back.sipped water and endura
i flew up the hill and didnt get passed once and still had some in reserve.
i did get annoyed at some big blokes doing heaps of drafting on the main sections and wished they would of got caught.i didnt draft them at all but we exchanged positions about 6 times.i would pass on the inclines and they would pass me on the declines.1 lazy ass sat on the back of this group the whole time.
i did feel some tightening in the quads coming home and sat up trying to stretch a little.
saw "LS" again on the bike near the finish and yelled out hi.
put a gu in my back pocket whilst riding ready for the run.
got feet on top of shoes about a km early before dismount and rode easy into transition.waved to team as i went passed.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.good ride
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

racked bike, helmet off sat down and put socks n shoes on,race belt, hat and picked up my small water bottle
What would you do differently?:

stuffed around a little with my shoe laces so could try elastic ones like i do on shorter races.
Run
  • 51m 19s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 08s  min/km
Comments:

i was feeling good and ready to have a good run but straight away i got some cramping in the quads above the knees.
i eased off and hoped it would go away.took a few kms but it did so increased my paced until i was feeling really good and was passing heaps of people.
took sips of water from my bottle and some endura at a station.about the 5km mark i took a gu and water and still felt ok but by the 7km mark the cramping came back and i had to ease off to make sure i made it home.i got heaps of encouragement from some team members out on the run which was great.
What would you do differently?:

have to experiment with some HEED or similiar as the endura isnt helping with the cramps.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around for a while then cooled off in the canal whilst eating watermelon and drinking water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

limited by cramping on the run leg otherwise would have gone under 2hr30.energy level was ok though.

excuses aside i need to do longer runs more regularly and this may help too.

Event comments:

overall had a good time and cant wait til mooloolaba in march.
dont know if i'll do noosa again next year as its getting more expensive every time.

Hey dude, great time on the race, shame about the cramping but I know you'll work that out. Youll do well at Bribie after doing well at Noosa.

Hey SS, glad to hear you had a great time at Noosa, I feel very jealous.

I loved reading your report, it brings back some good memories (nothing beats cooling off in the canal after the race, eating watermelon, knowing you've given it your all).

Good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully I'll catch in March at Mooloolaba.

So that was YOU overtaking me on the bike.  Did you get caught behind the "CHICK PACK" as well??  That wasn't long afterwards.

Hmmm... Looks as though there will be a bit of a BT contingent at Mooloolaba too!    Should be FUN!
