First thanks to all of you who have responded to my other posts. This site is really fun.

Is anyone out there trying to NOT lose weight or even gain weight? I can't seem to eat enough healthy (and convenient) calories and I resort to eating junky stuff like burgers and fries. When I up my training it gets worse as I get really hungry then.

Any secrets to getting fast healthy calories. I have a lot going on and the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I would rather spend precious free time getting a work out in.

BTW I'm 5'10" 155

I keep oatmeal cookies hand, granola, carrots, apples etcetera. There isn't much you can do in terms of fast food. Apples, raisins, nuts and cereals all travel pretty well. Even then though there is that old caveat - nothing to excess. I would kill to get to your weight (another 25lbs and I'll be there) so you must be doing something right.

You can wrap anything in a tortilla and pack it with you in sandwich bags. I take most of my food for the better half of my day this way. I am trying to loose a few pounds but this it is pretty handy to have a wrap waiting for you in the car as soona s you leave the gym, or anytime for that matter.

Healthy fats would be a way to go. (Dare I mention the PB?)

And eating continuously, of course. Go for nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, etc. Bagels are loaded with carbs.

Peanut butter! I have an underweight kid and we add peanutbutter to everything. It goes great on bananas, mixed with oatmeal, on whole wheat english muffins and with cut up slices of apple.

Also consider myooplex shakes. I like the balance of protein and carbs and they mix up well with a few ice cubes in a shaker bottle and I can drink them on my way places in the car.

I'm in a different situation from you in that I'm trying to lose fat while keeping muscle, so protein is more important to me than it might be to you, but I find my body works best if I can keep the proteins and [high fiber] carbs and healthy fats all in reasonable balance.

Cutting of veggies and bagging them is key for some people.  I do it alot to cut down time when I am in a hurry.

Remember to take your time before make that junk food choice.  It does not take that long to make something healthy for yourself.  I think you will be thanking yourself later for taking the time to make a healthly snack or dinner.

Good Luck.. Dave

Luky you ... As a rule, If you get tired after eating is because you ate too many carb, if you are still hungry is because you are not getting enough proteins.
Some people have good results by taking protein shakes. Have you tried that?

With respect to fast food, you may want to check out Wendys' menu. My daughter and I got salads from there last night and they've added a fruit plate to their menu as well. Of course, the caveat is that you do have to watch how much dressing you are using but I think they have some low fat dressings as well.

But I do have to say that nothing can take the place of a Whopper, Jr., with cheese, for me so I ocassionally have one. I'm not trying to lose weight so I look at it as a special treat after a hard week.

I love peanut butter and I've started to eat a lot of trail mixes while I sit work. I hadn't really thought of cutting up the vegetables. All are good suggestions

As far as protein shakes. I don't usually like the taste or the price, but I realize the benefit.

My former favorite breakfast: Maranatha crunchy PB & banana on a La Tortilla Factory lo-carb tortilla. Yum yummity yum yum! And took mere second to "make" and was so filling and tasty!

I only get the 'lo-carb' tortillas because they're so high in fiber, which makes them filling. And the only reason it's not my current favorite breakfast is because... well... because I'm enjoying my oatmeal right now. I'm not pressed for time in the mornings, so stirring a pot of oatmeal for 15 minutes isn't a problem.
