Comments:

About 1/2 mile into the run I knew it was gonna be a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day! My calves were so tight that they would not flush out the lactic acid and the just burned! I really stuggled the first 5 miles. I had to pee and finally found a porta-john but there were 3 woman in line. OMG! How freakin' long does it take to pee!? I stood there for about 4 or 5 minutes (or so it seemed) waiting for the woman to pee.

The rest did me good though as my legs felt much better after the pit stop. I decided I needed to make up for lost time so picked up the pace. I started counting the number of people I passed. Over the next 7 miles I tried to pass as many people as I could. I passed 76 people before crossing the finish line! I was not passed once in the last 7 miles.

The race website said the first 550 people to cross the finish line would get a finisher's medal. I didn't know how many people were in the race but I knew that everbody that I passed increased my chances of getting a medal. I got my medal. It'll be interesting to see if I had not passed 76 people would I still have gotten a medal.

Nice job Mike!  Way to pick up the pace and score the negative spilt.  Now you can use this race as motivation to PR at Disney.

You cannot predict your race day but you can deal with it through making race day adjustments ...way to not only negative split the second half but also keep your head in the race. Many people give up when thrown race day curve balls, you excelled. Strong mental effort to match the task given to your legs.

Well done!
