This is way too early to start a training group, but I am going to do it anyway.  Let me know if you have done this race before or might be doing it in 2009.

I did the half last year but am doing IMOO this year. It was a great race and very well run. The only drawback is that the run and bike course are pretty boring. Corn and more corn, but pretty flat.Best of luck. Steve

It looks as if they discontinued the full IM from 2009. Interesting. I think I'll end up doing this HIM.

I am planning on doing this one this year. I only hear good reports and have worked with the organizers at other events. Hope to see you guys there.

I did this race last year in prep for IMFL. It's fun but you are in the corn all day! Lot's of voluteers and pretty good support. I will probably go back this year just because it's close. It's not totally flat and there can be some windy spots through the corn.

This will be my first HIM - chose this race due to cost and limited travel expense. I will be volunteering the following weekend at IMOO and plan to sign-up for IMOO 2010 that Monday. Looking forward to starting my HIM training plan here in a few weeks...................thanks to BT for my training plan (although, I have modified certain weeks to accomodate my race schedule, as well as to tailor more towards my strengths/weaknesses). Looking forward to the race!

x2, except for the first HIM part.  I'll be tagging along with James and have heard good things about this race.

Okay...the hubby and I are in for the half. Any suggestions on nearby inexpensive hotels that aren't super seedy?

Can anyone talk to the condition of the roads on the bike?

I've been watching the weather.  The forecast seems to change every day.  I've seen anything from heat index of 103 to 82 with 82 being the most recent.  Looking forward to this race, good luck everyone.

How'd everyone do!?!?

I set a new PR (which wasn't hard consideirng my last half iron distance came in at 7:59:47) with 7:22 and some change. I had a horrendous swim, a reasonably good bike for my abilities and a solid run until my hips had enough.

The funniest part...I walked home with a first place trophy for athena (first time I ever raced this category). I get an award for being slow, but faster than the other slow athlete in my division. :snort: I found it quite comical.
