Anyone interested in doing 25-50 miles on the Silver Comet next Saturday 3/12 fairly early in the morning - 7:30'ish?

The Silver Comet 10k is that day starting at the Floyd Road Station around 8:00 a.m. Not sure if it will matter for your ride.

We could still do the ride.  If we leave closer to 7:15, we should be past the depot before the race starts (especially if we start at the Concord Rd entrance) and it'll be done by the time we get back.  I've got a 117 min ride scheduled for this weekend anyway, which would put us at about 30-34 miles.

What do you think?

I had already bailed on this weekend based on that and am now tied up unfortunately. My training plan kicks in this coming week, so I'll need to do the like next weekend as well. Up for same thing on the 19th - 35 miles or so?

Maybe it will be warmer then, too?

Sounds good to me thus far.  It's actually good that this weekend didn't work out.  I got my new Terry bike seat, which means Hubby gets my old seat (more comfortable than his), which means that we'll be going riding together this weekend.  He's not quite as speedy & will need to take a break during the ride, so it is probably best that we don't do a group thing.  We'll figure out the next time closer to the date.

Whit

Any plans to make this happen on the 19th?  I'd be interested in road-tripping up there for a 35 miler.  Please keep me in the loop.

Thanks!

I'm still up for it if anyone else is. Would need to do it fairly early though - have to get to a birthday party in the afternoon.

I think Whit is in.

Anyone else?

I'm up for it if the weather holds.  If not Saturday, then I'm going Sunday.  My ride needs to be 129 minutes, which should be ~35 miles.

I'm in!  How early is early?  7:30?  I've probably got a 2 hour drive or so, but I'm used to getting u[ early.  Plus, my wife (HuskerAlumna95) just started the Couch to 5k program and I want to stop by a good running store and get her proper shoes. We'll do that after the ride. Just let me know the time.

I'm in too if we are still leaving at 7:30.

My daughter is going through confirmation Saturday night so I'll have every relative in the area descending upon my house in the afternoon

I've never biked the Silver Comet so I can't choose a starting point.  If someone could make a decision and I'll do my best to get there by 7:30.

Let's do 7:30 at the 2nd trailhead - the one right after Publix - Mavell Rd.. That one seems to be the easiest.

Anyone object?

I am going to try to drag myself out to ride as well.

I have not ever ridden with a big group but I have done a few tris.

See you dark and early.

You guys have fun and be safe. I'm teaching 1.5 hour Spinning class on Saturday. It would be much more fun to be outdoors riding than in a room with very little fresh air. But I'm committed to the Ovarian Cycle program for the next 10 weeks so you all have a good time without me.

Sorry, all.  I have to bail.  I've had an emergency pop up and so I have things to take care of tomorrow.  Please schedule another one so that I can come ride with you all!

Apologies here. My bike tires were flat. I had to wait for my bike store to open. At least I was mid way to the trails. I did ride later the day. It was chilly and wet. I rode from Hiram to pass Polk county line (35 miles on the dot) -- had o cut short as the sky was threatening to rain.

Whit -- I assure you I will be there next time for the group ride. Wednesday and Friday looks like a great sunny day for trail rides..anyone?

We had a really nice ride despite the smell of cow poo and the chilly start. Only 3 of us ended up riding:  myself, Whitney (Whit) and Jeff (jg2ga).

We stretched it out to 28 miles before Jeff and I needed to get back for prior engagements.

Hope to see more folks out as the weather starts improving!

Sorry you all missed it. The three of us had a good ride - chilly but not too bad.

Congrats to Aims on the new talent she acquired on the ride (under the tutelage of Whit)! You'll have to ask her about that one.

Looking forward to the next one,

JG
