So what are the opinions of those who have raced Harriman, ridden up in Harriman or just feel the need to throw in an opinion on the issue of a Road bike or Tri bike in a Harriman Tri?

which races? ive done some sprints there. bike course is fairly up and down, with one long climb. ive only ridden harriman on a road bike so cant offer a comparison. but i did pass a lot of tri bikes on the big climb.

Tri bike.

I did 3 of em there this past summer and there are enough long flats to justify staying in the aero position.

I actually ride there frequently. I live 15 miles from there but have never done any of the Harriman tri's and have always ridden Harriman on my roadie. Guess its time to get the Guru up there...

I live a few minutes in the other direction from Harriman and haven't yet made it out there.  At this point, I'll vote Tri bike for no other reason then all I have is a Tri bike and I'm not able to ride a road bike out there...

Either bike is good for that race

did the half last year and for the long climb each lap i had a fleeting thought of a road bike...... but the rest of the race i was glad for the tri bike i was riding.

There is allot of climbing that would be great for a road bike, but the downhill and flats is such that you would get great benefit from the aero position if you can manage good control on your tri-bike.

Control I got. I've done those downhills enough times to know how fast you can get going. Just so much uphill....

Wondering if anyone is planning on doing the Half on the same day. Have been considering it since I think its a great Hill workout. I am doing IM lake Placid and could use whatever hill training there is.
