Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3:15am had a bowl of oatmeal, 2 eggs, a protein shake and a cup of tea. Packed up my bike bottles and some last minute gear and headed for the race.
Event warmup:

Got there at 5:30ish and figured I had plenty of time but I some how ran out and found myself running around last minute, which added to the freaking out.
Swim
  • 1h 27m 6s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

I actually enjoyed the swim, as crowded as it was. It was great to see the crowd everywhere, on the bridges, running along shore, and it was probably the only time I didn't hurt all day :)
Transition 1
  • 17m 54s
Comments:

Wow! I spent a lot of time here, didn't realize I took this long but I wanted to make sure I had everything and that I was completely covered in sunscreen, I wasn't the least bit concerned with time and it showed.
Bike
  • 7h 26m 59s
  • 112 miles
  • 15.03 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike time was slower than expected, I stopped and stretched several times because in the past my legs cramp up a lot, it was worth the extra, didn't really cramp all day.
Transition 2
  • 13m 58s
Comments:

Another long transition
Run
  • 6h 08m 43s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 14m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

I was very pleased with my run, wasn't really planning to run to be honest, didn't even know if I'd be able to, but I did run quite a bit up until the last lap, at which point my ankles/achilles tendons were toast.
Post race
Warm down:

Got directed right into the food tent, at first sight I said yuck pizza and french fries! I reluctantly took a bite of pizza and actually said out loud, "wow, that is surprisingly delicious" then got light headed, promptly sat down on the ground and then was escorted to the medical tent. No worries though, a warm blanket and some chicken broth fixed me up in less than 5 mins.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First IM ever, in my first season of triathlon, I feel like next time I could do a lot better time wise, my only concern on this race was to finish.

Event comments:

Do it!
