Run
Comments: I went out too fast last year, so I tried to keep it under control. My goal was to break 45:00 just three weeks before, but I did a training run under 45:00, so I decided to look into McMillan Calculator to see what pace I should do to be on track for a 4:15 marathon. It was 43:07 or 8:40/mile pace. I felt pretty good through 4 miles, but the last mile was very tough. I even walked for 15-20 seconds up a hill at the start of mile 5. During the last mile, I picked up speed and got my pace to around 8:30, but I was spent at the end of the race. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I beat my goal pace by 20 seconds/mile and I beat last years time by almost 5 minutes. Post race
Warm down: I found my kids and waited for my wife to finish. she beat her last years time by 5:00 as well. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I ran at a good pace and kept it pretty steady for the race. It felt great to be passing people even in the last mile where last year I was toast at that point of the race and got passed on an uphill by a woman pushing a double stroller with two kids in it. Event comments: This race is just 3 miles from the house and it is a great family tradition and a great way to start off Thanksgiving Day. Last updated: 2008-11-27 12:00 AM

It was all I could do to get the family ready and out of the house to go get ready to race.
I ran the mile fun run with my daughter. Sh ran around a 10:20, so I did the same. My son ran the mile also, and did an 8:32.
