Member 239 Apex, NC | Subject: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? I'm seriously considering doing the Finish Strong Series to see how well I can do in a full series. But then there's the NCTS and TrySports series with SetUp. I've done a bunch of their events in the past and will probably do several again this year, but maybe not enough to get a full series score. Then, I've got to figure in one destination race this year. Decisions, decisions. What are you guys doing? |

Master 1240 Knightdale/Raleigh | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? I tried to Travel is such a big part of the cost, I'd be more likely to do a series if it had the required number of races nearby. FS would be the most likely for me, they have several within an hour drive. I'm only seriously looking at 3 of there races this year, but if it only required 4, then I'd be more likely to do that 4th. Since it's 5, maybe some other year. |

Extreme Veteran 537 Davidson, NC | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? After a year of barely racing I think I'm going to do a lot more NCTS races next year. My inclination is to open with Belew's Lake again. I like the course better than MAP and it's at a better time of the year. After that: With the exception of WL & Duke, these are all races that I can drive to the day of the event and that keeps the cost down. My general rule of thumb is that the drive to the event should not take longer than the event itself. The FS stuff is just to far away to bother with for me. I would really like to Beast of the East, but I think that's going to interfere with spring fishing. |

Master 1240 Knightdale/Raleigh | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? Uh oh, that's another person finishing ahead of me at Riverwood!
I'd consider B2B Half instead of Pinehurst if I could wait until summer to decide, but it sells out so early. I'll probably drop at least one of those questionable races. |

Master 1741 Chapel Hill, NC | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? I am going to do the following races: * a secret sprint race. I am only going to sign up for it at the last minute if I think I can take top masters female. I'm not telling anyone what the race is, in case competitors read my various blogs and want to chase me down. Okay, maybe that's narcissistic of me to think that, but, oh well... * Duke 1/2: I know it's close to B2B, but trying to conquer the duke monster has become an annual tradition for me. My goal for that race will be #1 swim split. * B2B full. Yikes, I'm having buyer's remorse and wondering what the heck have I done! Maybes, depending on finances: Washington OLY - FS series Bandits - I love that race Scratched: Was thinking of Blood Sweat and Gears, but will not do that in the same year I do an iron distance race. Was also thinking of Over the Mountain. But that's too close to the end of the school year, and I have a daughter graduating high school. So, that race is out. Edited by keyone 2008-12-03 10:05 AM |

Expert 1342 Apex, NC | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? It's shaping up to be a lean racing year... not in NC...Shamrock Marathon (Va. Beach) maybe Falls Lake Oly (Finish Strong) doing Tour de Cure again (not a race, but a chance for a double century) Duke Half maybe City of Oaks again, not sure I'd love to have more races in there, but finances will be tight. As you can see, I have my ducks securely scattered. |

Veteran 293 | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? Ok, I am going to cancel my tri season so I can attend the "secret race" to watch Love2tri and Keyone go at it. Its probably somewhere in NC, SC or VA. Will have to go to all of them but it will be worth it. I'm so warped!! |

Veteran 127 Raleigh Area, (Clayton) NC | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? Last year was my first year doing tri's, and did all sprint distance. 3 were in NCTSDS and 1 was Finish Strong. I'd like to do all of those again, plus a 4th in the NCTSDS. I think I could have been in the top 10 for my AG if I had a 4th race WAC Sprint Riverwood Sprint BASF Smile Train Sprint UNC Wellness Sprint Triangle Sportsplex Sprint but if things go well, i might try an Oly. We'll see. Of course this is just tentative. I want to be able to compare apples-apples with how I performed in the same races last year. |

Veteran 171 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: NC Series Offerings - what are y'all doing? Well - I was gettin my hope up for doing my 1st HIM this year..but then I took a dose of a lil pill called reality and realized I may have been jumpin to far to fast. Like some of you last year was my 1st tri season and I only raced 2 ( MAP & Latta ) both sprints and then I gotta the bug up my butt to do GCHIM! WHAT...well..I know that I cannot prepare myself for any HIM this year. With my wife in school fulltime I am very limited on "free time" so I have to be realistic...plus..I have not even conquered an Oly tri yet. So..with that being said I am planning on focusing on more sprints this season and then makin the HIM goal in 2010. I can see me doing an Oly this season, which would be the most logical move for me as I am at best still an amatuer on the tri scene. I want to keep the fun in racin and not get consumed with the other parts of the sport...I still think sprints are challenging..and if I need to raise the bar a notch then an Oly would be the best one for me to tackle this season. All in all I am excited about racing again this season..I have come a good ways in my training and I am really lookin forward to seeing how much better I can do in the sprints I did last year....and then doing some more as well..with an Oly to cap the year as my crowning acheivement......the for sures are below..the others I will throw in where and when my schedule allows..but I know I will get in more then 2 races this season... MAP - 1st race for this season as it was my 1st tri race ever last season! Latta - 2nd and last race last year, but I plan on doing some others before this one since its late in the season. Wilmington YMCA ( sprint ) Over the Mountain - I think this one is an Olympic and will be the one I aim for this season Races I would like to compete in this season - Lake Norman & Wylie, White Lake (sprint), Pinehurst, and maybe some others. |
