Am I the only one that thinks it's absolutely hilarious that after Ball State ran like scared rabbits from an potentially epic match-up (just because they were both undefeated) with Boise State, they get spanked by Buffalo??  Karma bites another one right on the dupa.

Not really, but I do find it hillarious that you used the word "dupa". Don't see that everyday.

Is it because the potential for a blowout or for fear of losing?!

Remember the Fiesta Bowl with Boise State-Oklahoma a few years back?

They played a bad game and had four fumbles.

What is the bad Karma about that?

You have made a huge jump that they are afraid of Boise St. I am sure that they would have loved to play Boise.

USC lost to Oregon State, Florida lost to Ole Miss - not great losses were they? Did they have bad Karma to?

that game was of course the exception rather than the rule...remember the very next year the WAC winner got crushed by Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

Non BCS teams are 2-1 in BCS Bowl games - so you exception rather than the rule is incorrect.

Right I guess that means that the WAC is one of the best conferences...Of course following Boise States win against the Sooners the following year the entire WAC conference wnet 0-12 against BCS schools.  And one of the wins was Utah beating a weak Big East team in Pitt(ranked 21st at the time) in the Fiesta Bowl, hardly on the same level as claiming that Boise deserves to be playing in THE big game... But you are correct, non-BCS teams are 2-1 in BCS bowl games.  (Of course the WAC as a conference was 6-12 against BCS teams this year)

We are talking about the best elite teams of the non-BCS conferences. I just wanted to point out in the bowl games the best teams from these programs are not being embarrassed by the BCS teams.

I gotcha'...The win against the Sooners illustrates your point...in a BIG way.  I'm not sure the win against Pitt does anything, but it's a win.  And you're right other than the Hawaii loss in the Sugar bowl, at least in the BCS bowls they've done very well.  I'd be interested to see how they did across the board in all bowl games, and I don't have the time or inclination to look at it.  I like what someone else proposed, take the top teams from the WAC and Mountain West and make a conference.  It certainly would be as good as the Big East and maybe as good as the ACC.  Then include that conference in the BCS picture. (BYU, Boise State, Utah, Air Force, Hawaii...that's not bad)

I still think that a 1 or 2 loss SEC, Big 12, Big 10, team is more impressive than an undefeated WAC or MWC team.  But then again, my opinion would mean nothing if WE JUST HAD A PLAYOFF!!!!!

Some great points!

I am torn about the playoff thing - I would love one HOWEVER I love that every single week is important in college football. Also, can you imagine the fights about who is the 8th team if they went with an eight team playoff.

The last 6 weeks of this season has had a great game every week that has national title implications - a playoff takes that away.

USC is the epitome of bad karma.  And yes, I believe they either were afraid to face Boise State or they thought they were too good t face Boise State.  Either way, boo.

We have "fights" now about who should be the 65th team in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. But, they last only until the first round starts and are completely irrelevant fluff to bide the time. As would be "the fights about who is the 8th team if they went with an eight team playoff." It would be a lot better than arguing about who should be in the top two.

There is a HUGE difference between the 8th team in football and the 65th team in basketball.

This year the 9th best team (or should I say there are at least 9 teams) that all have a legit claim that they should be playing for a shot to be #1. In NCAA bball - the 65th team doesn't have a shot to win it - it is for the enjoyment and recognition to make it to the big dance, nothing else.

I do find it hilarious because Ball State has been overrated all year, one of the easiest schedules in the country. I am also glad they lost so my school - Central Michigan University - now gets to go to the Motor City Bowl again.
