Comments: Didn't really know what I would have for this, thought I wanted to go out in 8's but went with what was comfortable and it ended up being 7:30's for the first few miles. Slowed a little in mile 4. Mile 5 I missed timed taking a gel and ended up stopping to take it and drink some water. At this point I lost contact with the group I was running with. I still set my 5 mile PR even with that screwup. But, after that, I didn't keep the effort or pace that I had running along the tail of that group. HR stayed where it should and I plugged along, I passed a few people that fell off/back from "my" pack and hit the line just shy of my optimistic goal. What would you do differently?: Get my gel out a little earlier than the 5 feet before the water station. Post race
Warm down: Back to the van to change then head back for awards and drawings What limited your ability to perform faster: Race comes in my "Off season" so my mileage/sessions have been sporatic. Was sick the weekend before and not sure about strength Last updated: 2008-06-14 12:00 AM

Got up, had a smoothie, drove to the venue
Running back from registration, running up to the outhouse, running some of the back end of the course, running back to the van. Lots of 1/4 to 1/2 mile segments
