What's your favorite?

I have always like Winter Wonderland.  The Dean Martin and Anne Lenox versions are my favorite.

I like lots - I tend to prefer the "old" stuff (like, not written in the 20th century). But for 20th century songs, I like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - ONLY the original Judy Garland recording, complete with depressing lyrics in the last verse. No cheesy, big-band-style arrangements sung by Michael Bublé and the like (ew - I hate that guy).  Technically, it's not really a Christmas song, as it's actually from a musical, having nothing to do with Christmas (though the scene in which it is presented happens at Christmas), but I still like it

Oooo, "Dreaming of a White Christmas is good".  I have a Bing Crosby Remix that's awesome.

I love O, Holy Night.  It's one of my favorite songs to sing in chorus - altos actually get the melody for a bit.

Ugh, I HATE That recording. Because he's singing the tenor part, VERY loudly, so it's like a solo, but in harmony. So weird. I am not a huge fan of Johnny Mathis butchering Christmas songs. Esp. Handel...a sacrilege!

"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is the one that always gets me in the Christmas Spirit. To me it's both poignant and joyous, just like Christmas.

Elfs Lament by Barenaked Ladies.  Although its not really classic...or a carol.  But its Christmas-y.  And I'm not much for Christmas Carols.  So thats my vote and I'm sticking to it.

ETA:  Oh, lookie, another thread where this belongs.

I love "The Little Drummer Boy." Tears me up every time I hear it.  The combo with Bowie and Bing is great. At least I think it was Bing.

Yes, it was Bing Crosby.

Yeah, I'm sure David lived right down the road from Der Bingle and didn't know each other. HA!

The tenor part is meant to be loud in those places.

Not the way he does it though. It just sounds weird. I know where the certain parts are supposed to stick out - I've done the Christmas portion of Messiah twice and sung the Hallelujah Chorus numerous times over the years. But it's a choral piece, not soloist and back-up. And since he is not necessarily singing the "melody", it sounds really odd.

Ha...I thought you were commenting on the version posted at the link.  I searched for the other.  Made it through the first 10secs.  My ears hurt now.
