the silverman is my dream race.  I hope to be there 2011.  I have oftened wondered with the elevation change that occurs how many road vs tri bikes you see in transition - and any thoughts you great race finishers have on the road vs tri bike question.

still thinking about this one.  Full or half?  Half or full?  who knows...  I'll do one for sure.  I need my 4th silverman backpack...

trid - 2010-06-03 5:15 PM i guess the half if you want to try to qualify for the itu long course championships.  otherwise from what i am hearing they might remove the 140.6 the year of the itu race due to logistics....so you might want to get your fix now =)

Just curious on what reputable sources your hearing that it may only be a HIM distance in 2011?  I considered a full in 2011 but would more likely have to push it back to 12 or 13.

Any skinny on the swim venue change?  the whys, the whatfors, etc?  I assume this lessens the risk of hurricane hollows race morning?

I'll tell you this.  I don't like it.  Lake Las Vegas is gross...  It's not terrible, but not as nice as Lake Mead.

I have to agree on Lake Las Vegas...  I've never swam there, but my wife has done IronGirl there and I would agree, that it is a bout 10 steps below Lake Mead.  I can understand the benefits of swimming there...  A little bit nicer for the spectators as well?

I'm just speculating, but maybe there was an issue with the lake and shutting down the boat ramp (or making it difficult) for several days...

I need to check out what it does to the bike course.

Did Pumpkinman HIM in Lake Mead in great conditions.  It was an absolutely beautiful swim.  WOnder if P Man is still swimming there.  I know they're different beaches

I would bet on it...  All the swims are from Boulder Beach EXCEPT Silverman...

trid - 2010-06-17 8:51 AM i really do think the explanation is simple. loews came on as the official hotel.

like someone said the bike course has definitely changed.....i just checked out the descriptions/maps and everything looks different on those profiles!?  i might be wrong, but even the run looks different?

there you go.  makes perfect sense.

I signed up for the full shortly after my wife completed the race last year.

I did the Silverman HIM in 2008 when the weather was blustery.... yeah I'll call it blustery. Anyways I am looking forward to going back to this race, it is by far the best run event I have ever been to.

My wife is trying to qualify for team Canada as an age grouper for the 2011 race and I hope I can just go do it with the best triathletes in the world, very cool.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the full.  It's been on my list to do, so this year is as good as any to try to knock it out.

Where does everyone typically stay for the race?
