You mean this year...cuz...the first one was this year...LOL

I did it this year...It was a great Race...in the area of Key Biscayne...The swim course was great...it's a closed area...in the Miami Rowing Club...calm waters...The Bike Course is the same of Tri-Miami  and Trilogy Series organized for (www.MultiRace.com) but 2 loops (Olympic Distance) 24.8 miles...that mean you will have to climb 4 times the famous Rickenbacken Cswy Bridge...and...it's usually windy...The run is the only Course that I really didn't like....cuz...it was in a dirty trail with too many roots and holes...it was too narrow...it was very difficult to pass the people...But in general excellent Race....I really recommen to everybody...I will do it next year again....

This is true...

Good to know, will make sure I do some trail running in preparation.  I like wind, because others do not :-)

Running route too narrow to pass.  That's a great thing for me since I always get passed on the run!

I'll practice my hip-checks.  Watchout!!! ;-)

I'd like the bike route to be narrow...that's where everyone passes me...but since I train almost exclusively now on the causeway maybe I'll beat a few people...if they get flat tires that is =-)

Does anyone remember what the water temp was for this race?  Suits or no suits?  If suits, did they have strippers?

Wife and I did this race last year... wetsuit legal, no strippers.... most wore a wetsuit, my wife went sans suit and didnt mind it at all... swimming is her strong suit... but the majority had suits on... the swim last year was a little short, fastest pro was out of the water in 12 mins... later read that it was approx 300m too short... hope they fix that this year, though it was nice to see a 19min swim next to my name when its usually 28...

okay for a first timer, you think? the only riding I do is in the Keys and it is FLAT. Rickenbacker looks like it's quite a long climb---twice and windy, hmmm!! Good to know about the run- dirt trail, with rocks and roots. Did you wear a wetsuit for the swim? I have a like a farmer jon shorty-i'm cluesless on the wet suits.

strippers are volunteers who gather around the swim exit and pull your wetsuit off for you....you just sit down and 2 people rip them off your legs, saves tons of time.

where do you ride in the keys? I just moved to miami from Islamorada and used to do all my riding on the old road between chilly willies and the high school.....rickenbacker isn't as bad as it looks unless the wind is really kicking, also you have to climb it 4 times for this race not 2 ;-)

as for a wet suit, I would plan on wearing one. I swim around key biscayne regularly and the water can get chilly but not too bad. in a race of this distance the benefit from boyancy, speed, and warmth outweigh any loss of time in transition.

Hello, I am in also! Will be coming in from the wintery NE, so I expect my bike leg will be atrocious (it is my weakest leg in any case).

Just need to figure out how to get my bike down there. Will probably FedEx it a week early.

Have never done an Oly distance race so early in the season, it will be interesting.

As for the price, as long as the demand is there, the price will be high. Signed up for the NYC Nautica Tri, and that was also pricey.

From what I hear the Nautica events are always a little pricier.  Maybe because of the pro $?  On the other hand, aren't there more sponsor dollars to go around? At any rate I registered last week so I'm down for Miami town.  Let's hope we have great weather!

just a quick heads-up for anyone thinking abuot doing this race but hasn't signed up yet....
i just got an email from PD MIT, and it stated there are 230 spots total left.
Not sure how long it will take, but event is limited to 1500, so that may give you an idea.
anyways-just wanted to let people on the fence know it might sell out soon.

Anyone heard of being able to defer this year's race entry to next year? I unfortunately have had to a pacemaker put in and cannot swim for 6 weeks...

There is nothing on their website and an email to Excel Events Management have not yielded a response yet. I left a voice mail message today so hopefully a response is coming. My wife and I both signed up so we're talking about $250...

question for everyone who did this race last year....

I read that we have to check in our bikes the day before the race, im a little worried about leaving my bike out in the transition area since i've had my tires pop cause of the sun. Did anyone have any issues with this????
