I'm in. Rode 34 miles & then swam for 30 minutes. The pool clodes earlier then I thought or I would have swam more.

I did a 5-mile run yesterday. That should hold me 'til April.

wnevala - 2009-01-11 2:44 PM Hi Friends, I just registered yesterday for this race. I am up here in Minnesota with snow and ice on the ground. I have been running on my treadmill, biking on my Kinetic, and swimming at the Y. I will be venturing down to NO to get the season started. Anyone have a take on the water conditions there? Is it really safe for human contact? Just curious. Anyone from Minnesota heading down there? Bill in Rochester

You can go here for water quality reports: http://www.saveourlake.org/water_quality.asp  .  The water is fine.

This race is the first weekend in April.  Are you going to do all of your trianing on the treadmill and the trainer?  Or can you get out on the roads sometimes?

I'll be running outside as much as possible, but due to the weather, my bike training will be almost all on the trainer. I'm going to do some computrainer classes as well to keep it interesting. I'm praying for a few breaks in the weather in March so I can get some road time in. I'm also going to brave the frigid water of the NY Harbor in March for at least two open water swims. Brrrrr.

My training is going great and I'm staying injury free for this one.....I hope. I should smash my Florida 70.3 time if things keep going smooth.

As flat as this course is, who knows, the trainer might be the way to go.

It was a little chilly this past weekend, but I finally got some good time in the saddle outdoors.  First big brick is scheduled for Saturday.  In fact, it will be the first time I've run after biking since my last tri back in August.  This should be interesting.

It all seemed more real while doing my first brick of the plan last Saturday, and it went way better than expected.  Of course I had to go and get sick for that past two days, but I think I'm ready to go today.  We'll see.

Hopefully the weather turns for the better this weekend.  I really don't want to do any more long bikes on the trainer.

This weather is keeping consistant training from happening. Let's hope the next 7-8 weeks bring atleast some 50's or 60's to train in. I think I will be ready, but I need some long bikes to help with my confidence.

Had a chilly two hour run this morning.  Was glad to get through that one with a long brick on Saturday staring me in the face.

Wave start times are up on the website, by the way.

Yeah. And you'll have nice pace booty if you can catch them.

If I can get a good draft off of someone, I might break 30 min for the swim...but doubt I can get close enough to catch that nice pace booty!

I'm also in Wave C-D. Or possibly E, F or G since they have my age as 35 instead of 34. The earlier the better, I suppose. Really, it's the difference between 7:08a and 7:24a. And really, whatever wave is behind me will roll over me quickly anyway.

Ok this will be my 1st 70.3 IM after many  sprints and olympics, I'm paranoid that I might not be training enough.  The weather has been brutally cold in TN for some strange reason, so I'm just trying to get some saddle time on the bike with trainer 56 miles is going to be a long time on that seat.  I've been doing alot of stairs in my training hope it helps.  I hear the course is pretty much flat flat flat.  Meeting with a run group on saturdays that are training for the Country Music 1/2 marathon. I'm pumped and I hope to make the rest of Feb my biggest training month.  I'm usually good with the swim and will fine tune things in the swim during the month of March.

So, what are you worried about again?

No offense and I'm certainly no expert, but why are you running stairs?

If you can use that time for something else definitely get some time in the saddle. Buy a trainer for your bike. Even a spin class would be more beneficial than running stairs. If you're only running once a week you should probably step it up.

Just been notified that I'll be part of the officiating team, so watch yourselves out there.

Also let me know if any of you BTches want to get together to meet, greet, and maybe eat the day before.

I'm always game for food.  I'll be in Lafayette on Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.  Maybe you can direct me to a safe place to ride for an hour or so.  I'll be swimming at Red's on Friday morning.

Damn it! I've been able to ride outside a few times lately and it was awesome...now with my schedule and weather the past few days, outside wasn't happening and I don't want to get back on the trainer.
I have tasted the freedom of the open road and now its hard to get back on the trainer!

Not worried, but this is my 1st IM and its more of a nervous anticipation.  Just hoping I'm training enough to endure those distances.  I'm 225 lb Clydesdale and I've dropped 16 lbs in the last month getting ready for this.  Every lb of body fat I can lose will only help me.  I just spent 26 days living out of a hotel in ATL due to "job" and definetly brought my bike trainer with me so that helped out alot.  Climbing stairs-who knows I guess I was going for the shock and awe to build up some leg strength-it gets pretty boring in a hotel.  But since I've been back home no need for that.  Also I'm still getting in my run miles during the week M-W-Th.   However saturday morning is a 20-25 mile bike ride to the group run where we do the weekly long run.  I'm hoping this will get my legs acclimated to coming off the bike and going right into a long run.  So far so good.  I'm open to any suggestions and I really appreciate the feedback.

This is my first HIM as well and I'll be honest, my training is not what it should have been. I went through a really emotional move in mid-January and was so exhausted that training was not an option. I started with a coach this month and the change is kicking my a$$. It sounds like you're making the best of the time you have and congrats on the weight loss. I know from experience that it makes a huge difference.

Right now I'm running 3 days a week. One is shorter and includes drills on a bike workout day. One is long and is a solo day. The other is my weekly brick. If you're running 3 days a week I think you'll be ok. Don't ramp up your mileage just for the sake of it or you'll risk getting injured.

We still have some time so don't worry too much. And remember, this is for fun
