Six years ago I was transitioning from running an Alternative Special Education program in a High School to being an Elementary School Learning Disabilities teacher. And I was running a business. Now, I am just finishing my second year of retirement. It is pretty awesome to be able to do pretty much what I want. So far that has including: some substitute teaching, remodeling a cottage to "flip" . . . hopefully closing within about two weeks on that. Some volunteering, planning to do more once I finish up some long awaited projects here at home. And, getting back into training and hopefully doing well in my first Sprint Tri this Sunday. Actually, it will be my 14th Tri, but the other 13 were all 26-28 years ago.

I LOVED teaching HS English!!!! Unfortunately there aren't many of those positions open here and when they do open up there are more than 200 that will apply.  I have applied for 5 positions for next fall and I've had 1 interview (didn't make it to the teaching demo round), 1 thanks but no thanks and no answer form the others as of yet.

Six years ago I was still in college finishing up my BA Secondary Education/English.  I subbed for a bit then got my dream job.  Only there for 2 years before they closed (funding issue).  Subbed from then on.  In December 2013 I took a job as a toddler teacher (divorce was pending) in a daycare and I have LOVED every minute of it.

It is supposed to be a low stress occupation, with a good outlook for future employment. This is the biggest load of B.S. I have ever heard! It is the antithesis of all you will read about it!

I guess I can't call myself an Auto Tech since I have to work on everything from a little Fiat 500, to International Class 5 trucks... I also have the dubious honor of being the boss when the boss is gone.
