Keith,

I really want to, but I signed up for IM 70.3 in Providence and am not sure how my body would take it to do 2 HIMs with one month inbetween.

Does anyone have any insight to the bike course?  The computrainer course is really tough w/ a lot of 10-15% grade climbs.  Is that how the course really is or does the trainer course exaggerate the hills?

That must be Devil hill, yep that is how it is. I think first 6 miles are the toughest then once you make the right turn onto blanking on the name but state road with big shoulder it becomes more rollers and I think easier and faster part of the course.

So are there people who struggle up these hills?  I live around some serious hills and do rides on them but I struggle on the trainer w/ that ride?  I'm just wondering if I'm going to fall over and die in the ditch!

First time I did it I couldn't get up the hill and had to resort to walking now after 4 more years hard but doable..love the challenge of Devil Hill. If it was easy wouldn't everyone be doing it?

My cadence drops down pretty low in my easiest gear and I get some nice power numbers for that hill.

It's all relative to your fitness.

where on the route is Devil's hill? if memory serves me well, when I rode in that area on my high school cycling team, I wasn't allowed to stand up on that hill. They forced us to sit down for the climb.

After you make a right in the tiny village of Hebron, you stay on Lake Shore drive and there it is. What makes it harder is it is flat then slight up hill and then the Devil hilll so you have no momentum going into it from say if there was a down hill before it. It is about 5 miles from transition. Once you make the right onto 3A it becomes much easier nice shoulders, nice rolling hills but nothing hard. Plus the first 5 miles your legs might not be warmed up or even chilly if water is cold. It all is part of the fun of doing Mooseman.

Never let it be said I didn't do the least I could do

Glad I got that 12-25 cassette on there! If that's the only "real hill" I should be okay with that.

I'm excited!

It is a great venue and race and with improved roads, I can't wait to get on the bike course. I'm doing this as a relay and only biking so what could be better?

Either last year or the year before I went in on May 8th and it was pretty cold but hot day and nice to cool off after riding course and running.

I was amazed how many moms with their little kids were playing on the beach and kids swimming. After I got in this maybe 3 or 4 year old says see Mom she is in the water. I guess the mom had told her son the water was to cold for adults..it was quite funny.
