Pre-race routine:

Got up, got dressed, drank coffee, ate peanut butter toast, relieved myself.
Event warmup:

When I came out of the portapotty the group I was with was nowhere to be found. I meandered up to the starting area and hung out until the cannon went off.

My goal for this race was to do better than the Outback half which was last month.

My SOP when I am running with K is to hang with her until one of us feels the need to go faster or slower. Since I was running alone I just ran my own pace.

I decided earlier that I should try to run harder throughout the race instead of kicking it in the last 5K. I settled in and tried to find some good ponytails to follow.

The ponytail pickens were slim during this race. I was forced to use less than desirable pace rabbits.

I carried my own water so I didn't stop at any water stops. When I got to the turnaround I started to scan for people I knew. I saw K and Eddie but none of the others I came with.

The last 5K were tough. I was watching the clock and realized that I needed to keep my pace up and maybe go a little faster to beat last months time.

I kept on pushing and made it to the line 1 minute faster than last month.

I found out later that K bailed in the middle of the race due to a critical need to wash her running shorts and legs. One of the other ladies had an issue in the portapotty prior to the race (she sat in someone elses crap). They were busy finding soap and running water which is why I didn't see them when I came out of the john.
What would you do differently?:

train more

walked around looking for my ride back to my car.

my legs.
