Subject: Help me pick a new HR monitor
Hello
I have googled this to death, really confused. figured I would get some good advise here....
Anyway, my 3 yr old Timex HR monitor died. I would "like" a watch that gives run pace, had a garmin FR405, but battery life sucked and doesnt work that great with MAC's. Here is what Im considering...

Basic polar HR paired with bike computer(no run pace, but simple and reliable).

Garmin Forerunner 405 (Heard battery life is better...will it last a Ironman bike and run?)

Polar????? (not sure which would suit me)

I would like run pace and distance with a SIMPLE hr monitor. Somebody please school me on a simple HR watch w/run pace....
thanks
Bryan

get a Polar RS200sd or for all the bells and whistles a Polar S625X.  both will give you what you are asking for.

I have a Polar RS200SD and a Garmin 305.  I love the Garmin (bought it after the Polar) and wouldn't give it up for anything.  That said, I plan to use the Polar for races based on its ability to be used during the swim and the vastly better battery life (I'll probably still use the Garmin on the bike).  The Polar is simple to use and very accurate.  The footpod consistently gives me accuracy within about 3% of actual distances.

Overall, I'd say the Garmin provides more data and gives me everything I want for training.  The Polar is sturdy, accurate, and a solid player and gives me the basic info I need.
