Any one else getting ready for this race as a warm up for the season?

Feb. is reverse tri season for me.  That water is way too cold this time of the year.

As a kid I grew up in Orange County, and used to trunk it out all the time in the winter when surfing. This is an inland water body, so should be warmer?

Definitely not an inland body of water ... Mission Bay in Clairemont. It's basically Sea World ... just a narrow peninsula away from the Pacific

Current temp is 58,  Not too bad, but definitely wetsuit territory.  AFAIK, Mission bay is fairly shallow, easy to heat up, and doesn't get any of the cold upwellings.

I haven't done a sprint in over a year (and not doing this one).  I hear they hurt

What's some little pain Chris! This race is just a warm up, so really not a race, just a Q-web cleaning tool. Just concentrating on Transitions, and remembering what they are before HIMCA.

Come on out, and have some fun. No true speed needed here, just some fun intot he winter. Plus it gives me an excuse to visit some old friends I havn't seen in San Diego since I was a teen. Long time.

I'll be coming down from SF for it. I have picked this race for my first tri. The bike and run don't worry me, but I am working hard on the swim training. This sounded like a good starter race with calm water. Ha, most in the race are 1/2 my age so I plan on getting smoked pretty good, but have a blast doing it.
