Anyone interested in training together for the Kinetic Sprint? Even if we can't get together physically, we could at least keep each other moving and focused.

I did it last year in the pouring rain. I'm hoping for better weather and warmer water this year.

I have only done a few mini-tris and one Sprint. (Iron Girl) However, I am liking it so far! it is the ultimate in cross training!

Did you do Iron Girl Columbia? If so, that's probably the hardest sprint tri you're likely to do.

I just posted another thread on the Kinetic. Although I was thinking more about the half/oly. I'll keep an eye out on both.

Yeah. I did that one in 2007. I was not really in proper shape but it was great!

That's when I did mine, too. I'm going back this year as the swimmer on a relay team.

Great! I would love to get my swimming up to "speed" so to speak. Good luck!

Don't worry. There will be plenty of time after the race to take wife/mom etc out to dinner in appreciation.

I hope I don't have to wear my wet suit for this one. The Rumpass/ Bumpass Sprint my wet suit was slicing my neck area. Jus take a look at my training log and I will look at yours as well. I know I will be focusing more in the next week and a half on CORE training and puting more cycling time in too as well. I will see you there on May 10th good luck.

I'm sure the water temperature will be in the low 60's at best. I won't go in the water without a wetsuit.

Where you using BodyGlide or something like it?

Trust me I was wearing body glide throught. What happened was the velcro peice had readjusted itself and some way located itself by my neck area. I know it was my girlfriend that zipped me up, but did not secure the velcro correctly. I know it will not be problem next time. Are you ready for the race?

Yes!

Am I ready for the water temperature? Don't know! Weather permitting I'll be doing an OWS this Sunday at Sandy Point. Hopefully I'll be able to deal with the cold water and I'll do better at the race swim than I did last year. With a decent swim I should be able to drop my swim time by 4 minutes compared to last year!

I was out at Sandy Point last Saturday and the water was between 55 and 60 as far as I could tell from the NWS. It was my face that just got really cold and I didn't want to swim any longer. I was just doing T1 practice so I didn't spend too much time in the water at once. However, if you are under 5 years old it won't bother you. There were a ton of kids playing in the water including my 2 year old until we had to remove them because they were shivering.

Yes. This tri is centered on a different part of the lake, further north near the park and marina.

It's the opposite side of the lake, the "colder" side. Terrain is a bit hillier, I believe, esp. on the run.

You're signed up and you don't know where it is? No, it's not the same place!

Lake Anna State Park - Spotsylvania, VA. There's a map at http://www.setupevents.com/files/Kinetic_Directions.pdfand route maps at http://www.setupevents.com/files/Kinetic_Sprint_08.pdf

The kinetic is about 5 miles uplake.  The North Anna river and the Pamunkey Creek feed Lake Anna and come together at a place called the splits which is very close to the Lake Anna State Park.  The water is generally 4-5 degrees cooler there than at the marina where the Rumpass was because the water from the warm side of the lake rolls back into the public side at that marina.  I was on the lake last weekend and the water was up to 73 degrees on the surface compared to about 65 on Rumpass day.  I fish the lake pretty much every weekend and my temperature readings are from my fishfinder, so I'm pretty confident in the temp changes.

Looking pretty good so far, especially compared to recent weather.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
