I am debating cutting my hair. I do like looking feminine but I love short do's as well. With the swimming I'm doing, keeping my hair short will make it easier to dry and get to work quicker. And, I just plain old like short hair.

I like this haircut on Audrey Hepburn (cover of her son's biography about her):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0671024787/ref=sib_dp_pt/103-633190...

I'd go from having hair that's about 8 inches past my shoulders to something much, much shorter. One of the things holding me back is that I cut my hair short 4 yrs ago but did not like the face looking back at me as it reminded me of a time of great sorrows in my life (when I had short hair). It's a little risky for me, emotionally.

I need moral support!

I absolutely LOVE that hairstyle! It will be so much cooler and easier to deal with than long hair. I say "Go For It"! You are a different person now than you were before. It sounds like it is time for you to be able to see THAT person when you look in the mirror, regardless of what hairstyle you wear. I can't wait to see the before and after shots.

I've got ((VERY CURLY)) naturally curly hair... I've got hardly any options at all without looking like heavy metal guitarist Ted Nugent (Long frizz...ROCK ON!) Or Justin Guarini... short & curly... Holy Afro! So I encourage you to embrace your options and go for it! It's only hair... It will grow back... and meanwhile it will be easier to get up under your swim cap!!!

Good Luck! Let me know how it goes!

I absolutely LOVE  LOVE LOVE short funky hair.  I have had hair down my waist, and short spiky cuts, and I had way more fun with the short hair.  Right now it's to my chin, but I will at some point soon be going back to the pixie cut. Go for it - and post pictures!!!

I do think that cuts like that don't look good on everyone (for instance, I'd look like a boy with a big arse), but I checked out your photo from your profile and I'm giving you the go-ahead. Lovely cheekbones, by the way!

Hey Renee!

I've had my hair short for a few years and I loved it when it had a style, but I am trying to grow mine out and it does not have any style right now.  I am getting a haircut on Wednesday and I might steal your Audrey Pictures.

The way I figure it, if you don't like the style, your hair will always grow out!

yi yi yi, I am in no way qualified to give advice. I've had hair about at least six inches past my shoulders for like, forever.  Often I'll get it cut a couple inches shorter, but that's it.  I havent had short short hair since the punk of the 80's in high school.  Yeah I spiked it too.  I'm so scared, I won't do it without doing one of those computer things to see what it looks like first.  My cousin had long hair forever also, and cut it to a bob after she joined the AF and she's kept it this way even after her discharge.   I've had it so long I dont know if I could adapt....  maybe when I drop enough pounds, the long hair kinda makes me look skinnier when it's down  :-)

Hey girl... I was blow drying my hair yesterday... Oh boy, the chlorine is killing my hair! I color it every couple months but I understand you.. I wish I was brave and I could cut it but I tried once and it didn't work out. I look like a tomboy If you can hold the style, go for it!!!! It is so convenient! You know what? It will grow back, you cannot go wrong....

I agree with chop...it's hair...it grows back!  It's one of the few parts of our bodies that we can change at will! Go for it! :-)

This advice comes from someone that got all her hair cut off when she went to basic training...my mom showed pictures of 'her son'! :-)

My hair is still short to this day...it's just under the helmet...you can't see it!

make sure your hair dresser is on board. I went to get my hair cut more professional looking and my regular hair girl is off studying abroad this semester (she is actually getting her mba). so I went to her colleague and she was afraid to really cut it, so I wound up with hair without a real style - like the old hair but chopped off.....

But it will grow back, or I will find a good hair dresser to fix it.......

Oh, I thought of another piece of advice at the pool today.  With short hair COLOUR is very important.  Whether you are blonde or brunette, you don't want to be mousy.  Then you DO look like a little boy.  Talk to your hairdresser about making it rich and glossy, and highlights if you need them.

Go for it! With short hair, though, one of the most important things is the texture of the cut. A nice texture is what differentiates a chop job from a style, which is why, even though a barber could get the shape of my (short short) cut correctly, I go to a woman that thins and textures.

How exciting!  Amazing what a new hairstyle can do :-)

My personal favorite thing about short hair is never having to bother styling it after I leave the gym...I wash and GO!  Saves SOOOOO much time :-)

I have a job right now that I don't know if short hair would work.  I host a TV program, and my boss was a little freaked when I went from shoulder length to chin length.  But I've been in TV for years, and I had short hair before, and I got lots of compliments on it.  HMMMMM. Maybe I'm just being a fraidy-cat and making excuses .... Maybe I will take the plunge. My hairdresser is begging me to go short.  (she's got a mohawk!!!!). I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR PICTURE

I'll take a picture of my hair in the meantime..... Be happy you're Audrey Hepburn sleek/sophisticated, and not a Ted Nugent/Justin Guarini hybrid such as myself.

Happy St. Patricks Day from work!
