Do a google search for Off Road Triathlon. Also check out this Exterra site. Here is a link to their calendar races all over the country.

You can check http://www.xterraplanet.com and search by state for the '09 schedule. Just click on "races" at the top and "race schedule" at the left.

Also check http://www.goneriding.com/ , mostly mountain bike races but a couple tri's.

Sorry for the hijack, but for those of you that have done Yargo, what is the bike corse like? Is it hard packed, smooth and fast or rocky, rooty and nasty? Looking for some tire selection help.

Any help is appreciated.

I thought that most of the  trails were hard packed, but you did have sections were it was rooty/rocky/loose. You had some intense hills, too. Very steep dips that required some hard climbing. I had no bike fitness last year, so I had to jump off and push bike up some of these steep hills. Several places (long downhills) where you could really open it up and fly! The trails were very narrow in places, with a bunch of trees right on the edge of the trails. I also remember that closer to the end of the course there was some erosion that made riding pretty tough. One of the funnest bike rides i've ever done.

If you want to come up to Southern Middle Tennessee, there is Dirt, Sweat & Gears which is a 12 hour mtn bike race.  www.DirtSweatandGears.com  in Lafayette, TN.  Lots of pros there!  I did it last year on a team and it was a blast!  The swag is great too!  Bikes, frames, wheelsets, etc!  There is the JailBreak Triathlon which is a 3 or 4 mile canoe, 8 mile mtn bike and a 3 mile trail run.  I've done that for 3 years and is a great end of the season tri in early Oct. or late Sept.  www.ColumbiaCyclingClub.com  PM if any questions!

There is an XTERRA in Birmingham in June (goes along with their Buster Britton Tri) - fantastic location, but be ready for hills. There are some others in TN, and one in memphis in May, I believe. Would highly recommend the one in Birmingham, though.
