Hello everyone,

I've been on BT for a few months, but haven't been too active on the forums, with the exception of the mentor program. I'm in a great group over there, and until now haven't posted anywhere else. I feel like I already know many of you, since I've been reading the Michigan post for some time now.

I live in Grand Rapids, so if anyone is looking for someone to train with, let me know.

Does anyone know when Steelhead usually fills up? I'd like to wait another month or so before I register. Am I cutting it too close?

Thanks for your help.

-Brad

Welcome Brad - I'm on the east side of the state so can't train with you, but maybe I'll see you at Steelhead if you go.  Not sure when it fills up, but I can tell you that a lot of the hotels are booked already.  I booked my room  a few weeks ago and it took me several tries before I found one that had availability.

Welcome to the group!  I get over in the Hudsonville area on occasion, maybe this summer we can ride together.

Steelhead, as far as I know,  has never filled up.  They have just kept getting bigger and bigger every year.

That being said, I have heard from somewhere in the grapevine that they are capping it this year.  Last year there were over 2700 registered.

I hope to see you there.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Eric - thanks for the advice on hotels. I have a place to stay already, just not sure on the details. one option is staying with a friend, the other option is an empty house that I could use for the weekend. If it's the latter, I'll let you know because there will be room for more.

I'm on the NE side, near Knapp and Plainfield. I train at the downtown Y most days, but Monday and Thursday I have a masters swim group at the Y in Forrest Hills (SE branch?)

Still doing a little running outside when I can convince myself to do it, but mostly inside. When spring rolls around I'll be outside and looking for riding/runnig/swimming partners.

Craig - I commute to Hastings daily, so we should be able to hook up for some training. I'll keep in touch when the snow stops.

Thanks again everyone.

Welcome. If you are looking to train with people in GR look into the Mars Hill Running Group. They are about 50/50 runners and triathlates. We run in East Grand rapids Monday nights and Grandville Tuesday nights, Saturday long run moves location every week. There is also a small group of us in that group that swim 3 times a week at 6 am in Jenison (open water) in the summer. In the summer the tri people do brick workouts in EGR on Thursday nights too.

Brad --welcome. I live in the Byron/Caledonia area and train with a couple of guys throughout the year and swim with the W. MI Masters at GRCC. In the summer, a couple of us do early morning bike rides down to Green Lake in Leighton Twp. (northern Barry Co.) for OWS.

It was in Georgetown near 22nd and Vanberin but it moved late last summer to the park behind the Jenison post office. I don't go to those swim much, I have to be at work by 7 so I don't have time to clean up after the swim.

Oh cool, Georgetown lake. I swim there quite a bit in the summer but never that early. Will have to make a point of it.
