nickster - 2009-01-30 7:35 PM I had a similar experience years ago.  I had to do a lung function test for a summer job.  I was supposed to blow into a tube as hard as I could and keep blowing.  I kept blowing the gaskets out of the machine.  They decided I passed.

That's pretty Dang Funny!!  But I'm still trying to decide if you are yanking my chain or not.

This is a really interesting thread. I have a history of syncope (2 times just standing around and 2 times in triathlon in the past 8 years).
After my first racing syncope about 3 years ago the docs found I had an elongated QT interval (they only found this on the day of the event). and elevated enzymes that linked to possible heart issue. I also had extremely low potassium and sodium levels due to dehydration. After a week in the hospital and a ton of tests - stress test, echo, genetic testing for LQT syndrome, more EKGs, and a few months on Nadalol which made my HR drop into the upper 30s they decided I was just dehydrated.

It's for real.  The test was with a portable machine that didn't have capacity of the full blown test.  It was pretty funny as the operator was trying to figure out what was wrong with the machine.   At the end the operator told me the machined only worked on "normal" people.  I think it was a compliment.
