Subject: Places to practice open water swimming
Does anybody know of any places to practice open water swimming near Atlanta that are closer than Lake Lanier?

I haven't done it yet, but a lot of people swim off of Dallas Landing in Lake Allatoona which is in the Acworth area.  It's a bit closer than Lanier.

Red Top has a great area just behind the visitor's center/lodge.  You have to pay $5 for parking (or is it $3?) but it's a nice protected cove.  We've had group swims over there before.

It's up 75 just a little past Acworth.
