Run
Comments: Run was still held after the week of snow closings and ice storms. The day was actually the first nice day we have had in a few weeks, sunny and 42. The ice and snow had partially melted. The race was run on neighborhood roads which were still covered in some degree of snow, ice, slush, deep puddles and running water. There was very little blacktop to run on. I ran well the first two miles (12:45) but my legs started to get cold and very wet (I was wearing shorts) The next two miles were slower (14:40) and my legs started to get tight. I slipped and fell on the ice during the last mile and also dunked my right foot in a deceivingly deep puddle. I didnt really run hard the last mile because I was running for fun and didnt want to injure myself for the my D race next weekend. What would you do differently?: I didnt have much running time in due to the weather the last month. It was very wet and cold with not good running surfaces. Nevertheless I was pleased with the time as it was just a hair off my five mile time in the fall. I think my overall fitness has increased. I wasnt too winded during the race. Post race
Warm down: changing clothing What limited your ability to perform faster: chilly wetness and icy run surface Event comments: I am amazed at some of the quick times put up on this running surface. I saw a few guys running in CC spikes for a road race (which makes sense given the conditions). Good local race Last updated: 2009-02-02 12:00 AM
