Subject: Unintended Weight Loss During Training

Hi,

I started training for my first triathlon (Olympic). I'm not overwieght at all and in fact my BMI is about 22.9. I'm about 14 weeks into a 33 week plan and my training volumes are strating to get hefty.

I've noticed over the last 2 weeks that I'm starting to lose weight. If anything I would like to gain 5-10 pounds.

How do I ensure I don't lose weight without costing me too much $$$?

Please help!

Thanks.

I haven't been feeling a lack of energy. I still feel pretty good through most of my sessions (weights & endurance.)  I've been making sure that I'm eating protien rich food multiple times per day too.

I think my body just burns a lot of calories all day long.  My endurance sessions have been about 700-1200 calories burned plus whatever I burn while lifting.

I'm at a loss.

Why are you at a loss? The other poster nailed it-eat more. account for those calories burned. eat more. eat more clean calories rather than dirty calories.
create a spreadsheet and input your meals, then total everything out and see if it matches your calorie expendature. if you dont want to lose weight just eat your RMR+Calories burned that day for exercise and you won't lose anymore weight.

OK the others have posted the "obvious" eat more calories to equal what you are now burning....

I'd ask you one more question---since you are talking about your volume going up and getting hefty and this weight change in only noticed in the last two weeks---are you sure you are drinking plenty of fluids??  You don't say how much you've lost but water weight loss will account for a few pounds....make sure you are drinking plenty ALL day long (yes even in this cold weather!!).  Just a thought to go along with the take in more calories........

If you need to gain weight look for calorie and nutrition dense foods: almonds, peanut butter, almond butter, olive oil.
