Pre-race routine:

The night before I went out with my friends and had beer and chicken wings!! My thoughts were if I were in college again, this is the way I would run the race!! This might not have been the best decision!!!
Event warmup:

I just jogged a couple of blocks b/c it was cold out!!
Run
  • 33m 6s
  • 4.3 miles
  • 07m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran to the KK at a 6:25/mile pace and then the torture began. I was in 130th place when we got to KK and I finished in 1436!!! After getting to number 5, I knew I was going to struggle eating the doughnuts. I had actually picked a bad spot to eat my doughnuts b/c there were people all around me. Had I went to the outside, I would have ate faster and just puked and then ate some more but in order to keep them down, I had to go really slow after the first 5. The last doughnut took me probably 10 minutes to eat!! The run back was not too bad but I took really slow b/c I knew I wasn't going to make it in the one hour mark!! My stomach was cramping through the first mile though!!
What would you do differently?:

Take it easy the night before and go to a different area to eat!!
Post race
Warm down:

Just try not to puke!! I went home and slept for a couple of hours!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I would like to say the night before but who knows......eating a dozen doughnuts might not be my cup of tea!!!

Event comments:

This is a must do race!!! It is basically a big party!!

I thought about doing this race, but didn't because I don't think I can eat a dozen donuts (not to mention running after).  It sounds like you had the same issues.  Congrats on completing the race though!!

I can't even imagine how you would train for this, but it might be fun to try!

If you want to be a better runner, train like a runner.
If you want to eat faster, well... you need to study under this man:

Awesome.  I am so disappointed that I never did this race while I lived in CH.

remember. sometime you race to place, sometimes you race to PR, and other days you race just to finish.  Sounds like it was just one of those days.
