I am planning a ski trip for the weekend of March 14th and I am looking for a new place to go. I have been to Park City, Summit County, and Steamboat so please tell me your favorite place other than those. Thanks.

Several come to mind....Telluride is a great little town and the skiing is amazing.  Aspen/Snowmass is fantastic - 1 ticket gets you access to 4 mountains (3 if you don't count Buttermilk) and the variety in terrain runs the gamut.  And crowds are nil to non-existent.

Of Telluride, the two Aspen mountains, and Snowmass, my favorite is probably Snowmass simply due to fact that so much "cruising" terrain exists.  If you like steep, bumps, more extreme, go Telluride or Aspen (Ajax or Highlands).

Lake Tahoe, Specifically Squaw.

Whistler/Blackcomb

But I've had the most consistent good snow (POWDER!) around SLC.

Whistler is quite possibly the best in the world.

Within the states, the best resort I've been to is Mammoth Mountain in Cali.

If you would like some great skiing and enjoy spending money like it's coming out of a faucet, Vail is your place. Aspen is good - Aspen Mtn is highly overrated, Highlands was some very challenging runs, and Snowmass is great for cruising. Like Vail, Aspen will take some serious coin. A bit less pricey, go to Salt Lake City and ski Snowbird and Alta. The skiing at Telluride is nice, but the arsty/fartsy types ruined the town. Taos, NM has some really nice skiing when the snow is good. Jackson Hole has a nice range of skiing and the town is kinda cool.

I loved Vail, and I would bet you could go for cheaper than you might think these days. We stayed at a condo across the highway from the mountain, and it wasn't that bad.

It is just so darn big that you are bound to find someplace on it you like to ski.

I agree that Val Thorens and Les Trois Vallees is pretty amazing. I'd been to Whistler but the French Alps really impressed me.

I would say Steamboat but you told me not to....I'd also say Park City just cus I live there but that's on your no list as well.

Telluride is great.  Also Big Sky or Snowbowl in Montana are both great.  I grew up skiing those areas.  There's also Bridger Bowl (www.bridgerbowl.com) which is where I first learned to ski and still my absolute favorite place.  It's not a resort/destination place at all.  It's a small, community ski hill with AMAZING terrain.  Especially if you like steeps.  I talked to someone just the other day who designs ski lifts....through his work he's skied all over the country and says Bridger is his all time favorite.  It's also quite a bit cheaper than the rest!

I skied in the Swiss and Austrian alps one spring break. I have to say it was totally awesome but my experience was tainted by skinny skis and having no idea how to ski powder. I spent a good chunk of time being frustrated. Now that I've got fatter boards and figured out how to ski them in deep snow, I'd love to go back.

Spring skiing in VT can be fun. Yeah, it' not deep powder, extreme elevation, etc., but we've had a great winter so far. The snow is really slow and wet, but you can work it and push your way down really steep stuff which, when frozen hard, are much more difficult. Plus skiing in 1 layer (or shorts) is really fun.

Not much nightlife, but Stowe is argueably the best pure skiing mountain in New England. Killington has tons of terrain, but is the McDonalds of skiing (millions and millions served).

I like Jackson Hole very much. Good town (million $ cowboy bar), tons of terrain and a day trip over to Grand Targhee make for a good vacation.

I'd agree that Stowe is the awesomeness, but Mad River Glen has it's own set of atributes that make is rock. It was always a tough decision when I headed up to VT as to which one I wanted to ski. Usually it was decided by the skill of the least accomplished skier. If they weren't good enough we went to Stowe so we could ditch them on the groomers.

My favorite is Powder Mt in Eden Utah.  No nightlife, although there is a new 'nightclub'  But I dont go there for the apres.  I go for the snow.  I was able to find fresh tracks 10 days after a storm.  Theres also single snowcat runs for $12, single helicopter runs for $75, and you can ride 'Powder Country' which is the backside of the mountain and a shuttle service picks you up.  If you want as close to a guarantee <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} , Powder is it.

And Snowbasin is only 20 minutes away if you want to change it up
