phatknot - 2009-09-24 2:23 PM ill come earlier if y'all are swimming together. id like to hit the river one last time....

I know the Broad Street Ramble 10K starts downtown on Sat at 8:15am.  Not sure if the roads will be closed or not and how tricky it will be to meet to swim.  Does anyone else know the logistics of the Ramble and if the roads downtown will be closed for it or not?

Edited:  Nevermind. I just noticed that the 10K stays on Broad Street so we can get around on Reynold's Street to swim.  What time do ya'll want to meet to swim?  Like 8:30 or 9am or is that too late? I figred that would give everyone time to shower off before the expo if they wanted to.  Ya know- just to get all the poo and e coli off

Our weather has been REALL weird.  One day it's hot and humid.  Then it will all clear up and we'll have blue skies with lower humidity.  I have no clue what to expect on race- sometimes it rains, sometimes it clears, etc...Just be prepared for any type of weather and make sure to adjust your race execution plan as needed.  The one good thing is that it's supposed to cool down a bit- which will be nice if it ends up being in the low 80's for the race day!

Let's meet at T1 at 8:30 in the water no later than 9 AM!

Yes sir!!  Only question- are we going to be able to park near the TA if everything is set up?  Surely with that road being so long we'll be able to park somewhere?

Good point. We may need to park at the first picnic area before the Rowing Club building and then walk up to the start. We can enter at the boat ramp at the 5th street bridge rather than worrying about open gates etc. This will keep the yardage down for us Master Clydes, huh Phatknot?

We can probably all try to pile into a few cars to ride up from the TA to the swim start together- we usually do that anyways on our regular morning swims.  We can try to park in the first section before the boat house.  After the swim we can coordinate getting back to our cars that were left at the swim start.  Starting from the slimy boat ramp will definitely cut off some distance and it will be a nice short swim for us

For anyone staying in the host hotel you can probably just walk to the 5th street marina from the hotel and not even drive.  Then you can hitch a ride back from the swim finish to your hotel

I will probably bring a BT sign or something so we can recognize another.  I'm assuming there will be a lot of others swimming in the river that morning as well.

Sounds like a plan!

I'll be there (around T1) looking for the BT sign for a 0830 Link up. I'll have a Minivan if we need to shuttle people

Oh yea!  I'm still wigging out over the swim.  I went to the first briefing and even though it wasn't really crowded yet I'm starting to feel claustrophobic.  I hope I don't get swam over!

Does anyone know the details of the swim start?  They only said that it would be an in water start from near the railroad bridge.  How are they going to get us there?

Any chance they'll sweep corners on the bike route?  That U-turn onto Grey Mare usually has sand/gravel.

Teri and I are here and enjoyed a great dinner at Nacho Momma's, one last shot at gut wrenching food before the race.  We are very excited. We are numbers 3295 & 3303 our first 1/2.

anyone, how will the live tracking work? does anyone have a link to the page? on ironman.com, i could not find that feature for augusta.

I'd like to set my phone up to allow my wife (and family) to be able to follow me.

BTW, those transition pics really make it REAL! Gulp!

I don't think it actually appears on the IM page until race day.  The IM Augusta page is advertising it, so it must be available for this race.
